And in the end, Zeke signs a team friendly deal. Works out to be roughly $13 million a year average and we can cut him with little to no dead cap in three years if he stops producing.

He’ll probably hold out again in three years anyways, lol, but whatever. Just glad we know it’s over now.

  2. I get what you’re saying....but that is not a “team friendly” deal lol

For what he could easily get on the market next year, it is.

Crazy to think almost every starter here is locked up for 3-6 more years.

  4. He got more money than any RB ever right? That’s not team friendly

More money in volume, yes, but not in percentage of the cap, which is all that matters. But averaging out to about $13 million a year and being able to be cut with almost no dead cap in three years, all the while the cap is going up significantly each year, it’s not a big deal. He could have easily got $15 a year or more in free agency.

I wonder what Dak is feeling right now. Is he happy because Zeke is gonna make him look better? Is he punching the air because it means less money for him?

  8. I’m not sure he would’ve got that much in the open market. I think the deal he got is about the max any team would offer.

I bet he’s thrilled. From what I understand, they’re best friends and we still have plenty of money to sign Dak. He’ll probably get around what Goff and Wentz got, $32 million average a year.

I just truly, strongly, philosophically disagree with how the cowboys view team building in every single way. I’ll be stunned if they win a Super Bowl anytime soon.

We were the youngest team in thirty years to win a playoff game last season and have only got better this year, so we’ll be fine, barring major injuries. We need to get over the hump, but are consistently one of the winningest teams of the past 5-10 years.

The Barkley holdout and contract in 2 years will be something.

No one other than the Colts get banners for winning a playoff game.

I think Prescott should make more than Goff and Wentz. He's played more games than both on a much cheaper rookie deal than both.

I know that's not how it works but it just feels like he's deserving of a bigger payday, at least than Goff. (Wentz having that MVP-esque season helps in his favor but he's still only had 1 full season and his backup won a SB so idk.)

I don’t need or want a banner either but to act like we never win games or aren’t in contention or whatever is just false.

Anyway the Zeke deal is team friendly in the same way that almost every contract ever is team friendly

    He's still getting fucking paid

I never said that lol. I said I fundamentally disagree with the philosophy and due to that will be very surprised if it leads to a Super Bowl.

  18. Eh, I don’t like them either but they’ve built a really good roster and so far have found a way to keep everyone. Obviously they’ll eventually be in cap trouble but that doesn’t mean what they’re doing now is bad. They’ve drafted very well and they’re keeping everyone together as long as they can. I don’t see how they can be criticized right now.

It’s gonna be a real shame if Zeke gets hurt and they still have an effective running game with Tony Pollard, thus causing us to wonder if they should have dolled out such a large contract to a RB.

Can you expound what you mean then? I guess I’m confused. We’ve been two games away from a Super Bowl 2/3 times since we’ve had this super young core leading the team.

“I don’t see how they can be criticized right now” is probably how a lot of people felt when the Rams signed Todd Gurley to a mega contract for an RB, yet here we are one year later

I’m not necessarily criticizing them. I just think their strategy is gonna lead to a lot of playoff appearances but no rings to show for it. Obviously if they do win I’m wrong, I just am not high on this plan.

  24. Zeke does not have the injury risks Gurley has

    (:

I was thinking what if Goff and Wentz come out blazing and end up having amazing years, Dak plays super average or doesn't play well at all. It'd sure make things super interesting in terms of money for Dak imo.
