How do you feel about running backs

I’m not ignoring how bad the roster was. Historically bad? Nah, I seriously doubt that.

And they have improved since then but I still don’t think he’s going to be average or above average.

One offer for a 2nd. One offer for a 1st. That's more than one, which is multiple. You can google.

Out of nowhere to people online sure but out of nowhere to them? Like, if they were offered these picks for just a regular back-up and thought Luck was 100 percent healthy why on Earth would they decline those offers?

Also, basically no other option but to completely ignore the next two quarterback classes? Strange argument.

I mean, to just point to that year as solid evidence he’s bad is kinda ignoring how bad it was.

Kinda like calling him a career backup, while true, ignores he was a high draft pick and rostered behind Tom Brady, Andrew Luck and Jimmy G, all starters. I’m not arguing he’ll be great, but I don’t think he’s the worst QB in his division.

Have you ever heard of the forward pass?

Brissett might legitimately be the 2nd best QB in that division.

Gruden says the offense will run through Derrius Guice.

Well, we know that Luck wasn’t healthy and even without his retirement that he’s an injury prone player so having a backup is extremely important, so trading him doesn’t make much sense unless they know for a fact they don’t need him, which isn’t possible to say. And then yeah, his contract is a bit more than average salary for a good backup quarterback and if it works out great, awesome, extend him next offseason or the one after. If not, keep him as a backup and go for the draft.

Again, I hope he does well because he seems like a cool guy and all but this started because you said he’s better than Foles, which is just completely not true, haha

Edit: Correction, ‘as good as Foles’ which is something I’d still completely not agree with

Also, I was trolling Randall. But I would 100000000000 percent rather have Brissett for 2/30 than Foles for 4/88

If they can get a 1st/2nd for Brissett and then turn around and get a Hoyer for a 6th/7th, why on earth would they say no?

My guess is that they knew Luck was injury prone and a first or second round pick in the future isn’t worth not having a backup who could go maybe 1-3 or 2-2 while Luck was out momentarily in the middle of what they expected to be a great season with Luck.

Not saying they were right to refuse those trades, I’d probably have taken them, but that was probably their thinking.

    OR

They suspected Luck may miss long term games and wanted someone they believed could at least hold the team above water long term.

Brissett is going to destroy us in one game and lay the biggest egg in the world for the other.

Okay, yeah maybe, but that doesn’t mean what I’m saying is wrong or even all that outrageous.

I’d say expecting him to be as good as Foles is way more out of the ordinary than not.

I'm expecting the overall deal to be better than Foles, yeah. If we had $10 million in extra space we'd have Yannick signed already and maybe Ramsey too.

Hmm, okay. I could get down with that line of thinking though. I think Foles will easily be better than Brissett but when it comes down to value, it’s way way closer of a question.

Counter point, I'd rather have Brissett for 1yr/$2mil and then have to tag him in 2020 than throw away $13mil in cap space for no good reason. They basically gave Brissett what they would have saved off Luck's dead cap space by having a dirt cheap QB option.

Oh yes I would absolutely do that but that also results in Trevor Lawrence being a Colt and, hear me out with this one, no and also fuck you.

They have an absurd amount of cap space and there’s something to be said for starting the year off with a QB feeling good, secure and motivated. Plus, tagging him next year would be like, 28 million no?

Franchise tag for a QB is gonna be between $32 and $35 next season. It’s $32 now and that’s before Dak, Goff, and Watson, who will probably all sign within the next 9-12 months.

I mean, sure, but the truth is if he balls out, by week 6 or 8 you can drop a big time deal on him. And if he looks like 2017 Brissett, you dont even consider tagging him.

They've got tons of cap space, but, also a bunch of young, talented guys due for deals in the next year or two. That's money I'd rather use locking them all up early.
