How come gubernatorial elections aren’t electoral college, each county carries a certain amount of electoral votes based on population?

 

Best part is their logic is completely backwards.

With the electoral college, as long as you win the top ten most populated states even you get the presidency. Yet for some reason, candidates don't just campaign in the ten most populated states...
