Jets cut Jachai Polite

Douglas didn't draft him and he just wasn't a scheme fit

This is a shitty take. Again, my point about the media shitting on the Jets for no reason.

If the Jets had to compete for Joe Douglas against other teams, there's no way in hell he chooses that situation.

The timing was perfect and they got their guy.

For the Jets it was, because the only other team that needed a GM at the time was Houston and that clearly wasn't happening.

It was a masterful power play by Adam Gase. Probably the only good thing he'll do for the Jets.

 

I'm sorry, but I fail to see how the timing could not have been better after the Jets just burned a valuable third round pick for Polite. Congratulations, your team out-smarted the Texans, who, as we learned today and time and time again this year, is not a smart team

 

To me, the point is mccagnan should not have been getting "his guy" in the first place

 

They would have never ended up with Joe Douglas if they fired Mike Maccagnan at the end of the 2018 season with Todd Bowles.

That's why I consider the timing perfect for them.

I'd say that everyone on this board considered that Jachai Polite pick to be an outstanding pick at the time. It just didn't work out. He couldn't get out of his own way and he was not the right fit.

Using that against their current regime is ridiculous.

It has nothing to do with Houston either. That just happens to be the only other team vying for a GM at the time. There was no competition for Joe Douglas. It worked out.

 

They tried to trade up for Mecole Hardman and couldn't swing the trade.

I'm glad that you can applaud the seemingly amazing foresight that franchise has for cutting their third round pick after just four months with the team.

Also, you can't now say it has nothing to do with Houston when you're the one that brought them up in relation to this discussion in the first place.

I'm not applauding it. I wanted him to make the team. EDGE is one of the team's biggest holes. It just didn't work out.

The Patriots just canned a second rounder who did nothing for them. Why use a roster spot on Polite if he's not going to play? There's 4 other OLBs ahead of him on the depth chart. It's wasted spot at this point.

Let me restate: there was one other team in the NFL without a GM at the time of Joe Douglas' hiring

Does that work better for you?

 

Maybe at least try to develop him? Idk, seems to be what a lot of other teams do
