Gutting a team’s offensive line and best offensive weapon to injury is sure to drop several wins to losses. It was “largely the same team” except without our primary offensive attack. We had to sign Ereck Flowers mid-season because our LT1, LT2, LT3 and our RT2 were ALL hurt. We had to trade for Carlos Hyde mid-season cause our RB1 and RB3 were out and our RB2 was banged up as hell.

If a defensive team can’t win in the trenches, they can’t win time of possession and can’t keep their defense fresh. That’s part of the formula. We’ve taken clear steps to fix this, in signing a QB who responds better to pressure and picking up the best power-blocking tackle in the draft.

A lot does hinge on Fournette and Robinson having a mostly healthy year together.. but I just think people are underrating how the Jags will perform as long as those two pieces are in place. People’s assessment of the Jags is entirely based on the assumption that we will either be as injured as last year (not likely but very possible)... or be that bad regardless (even less likely when you add Foles, Taylor and Allen.)

We ended last season with 4 out of 5 OL starters on IR, Blake Bortles at QB, TJ Yeldon at RB, our WR5 at WR2, and our TE4 at TE1.

It was an obscene amount of injuries in focused parts of our roster. Like maybe having that many injuries overall happens to teams every season, it’s unlucky but not unusual. But they were all at the same offensive positions which is unusual.

@whitenblue88 my opinion is, if the Jags DON’T “prove it” this year then they need to fire some people... because the expectation SHOULD be that we return to 2017 form and that 2018 was an abscess. This is still “largely the same team” that went to the AFCCG as well... so you can’t cherry-pick that.

    Fun must be always. Prestigious

I was wondering why I have been slowly disinterested in the Texans and this trade just showed why.

I feel so bad for all my Texan fans in here

Honestly even though a bad GM limits your potential, Deshaun is gonna keep y’all in it. I still will not ever see Watson to Hopkins and Fuller as an “easy matchup”. That can win any given Sunday imo

The Jags trading for Carlos Hyde last year was so dumb and funny, I almost forgot about it

Maybe I’m wrong for this but I like to assess teams in terms of how good they are when their most important players aren’t hurt. Injuries are unfortunate, I don’t like to look at them like an expectation. But yeah I get burned on injury prone players all the time, it just sucks that we have to have these ridiculous expectations of people’s bodies staying intact in a violent sport... in order for them to be even given credit for their contributions on the field.

    The rivalry is back on

I think I was very fair in my assessment. I acknowledged they have as good of a shot as anyone while also not pretending that 2018 didn’t happen

Don't know how people feel about Hard Knocks spoilers, but the Raiders have waived Keelan Doss per Mike Garafolo, which is surprising because Gruden has been loving him

2018 was v bad and I acknowledge that. I’m relying on the assertion that lightning doesn’t strike the same place twice haha. If we fumble up this season it’s on the coaches because we have pleeenty of talent.

Thought so. Anyway, there's no way the Eagles would sign him. I think it's more likely to see him reunite with Andy Reid in KC than reunite in Philly with us

The mainstream NFL media absolutely did not go after Houston the same way they claimed the New York Jets were a circus when both of their GM firings went down.

Obviously now people are shitting all over Bill O'Brien after his handling of this Jadeveon Clowney situation, but when both moves originally went down, the Jets were painted as the laughing stock of the NFL (even after they went out and hired one of the best up-and-comers for the spot) and the Texans just kinda slid under the radar for a while.
