Yeah, that song was fine. Better than most of AVA's stuff. But still, when I try to imagine it's Mark's voice singing the backup vocals, it just sounds like a mediocre Neighborhoods song.

 

So sexual offender/predator is dead...band still shouldn't Collab with his team but like...the dude is dead, guess there's still room for further financial retribution

I really still just can't wrap my head around why the band (specifically Mark) would think this would even be a remotely good idea. I know it's almost always about money, that's why these problematic artists continue to be supported by a label in the first place, but after a while don't (or shouldn't) your morals have to get in the way of a paycheck, especially if you already have a boat load of money to begin with?

 

Remember when Mark tweeted out a link to a new Pinegrove song not too long ago?

 

New AVA song is great and sounded even better live on a livestream from last night. Getting really hyped for new AVA & blink. It feels like 2006 again.

It was up for 10 hours. Still a bad look for a guy with 2.8M twitter followers to just blindly promote a band that is problematic. Mark's name/following carries a lot of weight, you'd like to think someone wouldn't promote something without knowing whether or not it could potentially be harmful to others.

 

And honestly, maybe a lot of people gave Mark the benefit of the doubt of not knowing Pinegrove's history...but now seeing them tour with Neck Deep and seeing the XXX news...think it's clear this band really doesn't give a fuck.

 

I mean to the large majority of the internet outside of this site no one knows that the story is being disputed or that there are other survivors. As far as I know, nothing public ever came out and some of the allegations are literally only on this site. I don't see how you can fault him for posting about a band that, according to a major publication, went through the explicit steps to seek rehabilitation and (again according to the publication) adhered to the survivor's wishes. IMO i'm shocked that someone was able to reach out to him and he actually deleted the post

 

I also don't expect people to google for allegations about every artist/actor/etc they post about.

 

How much money can there seriously be for this collab though? If it even is a full collab and not just a sample or something.

 

The scumbag has 24+ million monthly listeners on Spotify alone (more than double that of blink), so I’d wager a pretty penny.

 

this blows my mind! i'm so out of touch with modern popular music...

 

I have no idea how any of that stuff works. It's too inside baseball for me.
