If there's a radical wing of blm that orchestrated this, I don't particularly see a problem.

Also, curious how much "respect" dpd well have for blm moving forward.

So, Dallas PD saw a picture of a black man with a weapon and plastered his face all over telling everyone he shot ten cops.

Even when the police are getting legitimately targeted they identify the wrong man to the public.

Expect more violence against black bodies, alot of which will go unreported.

i'm writing a book, leave me alone.

we don't even know anything about the suspects yet and it seems from what is known is that the shooters were entirely separate from the peaceful marchers / protestors.

And yet a few posts up the tweet says they "respect" blm. Maybe they respect blm but not all black people...makes sense.

  12. DPD still haven't taken down their tweet about him being a suspect with his picture even though in twitter time it's been debunked roughly two centuries ago

come on. we have no idea why / what made the PD release that picture. and i haven't seen anything that said he was the shooter. everything had him listed as a person of interest.

yikes. that i did not see. i had only seen "person of interest" tweets and CNN has only been saying person of interest as well, at least for the last 25 minutes or so that i've been watching.

Take a measured look at the media response to the Dallas shootings versus the deaths of Sterling and Castille.

Certainly seeing more of my conservative friends and family piping in after being silent the past two days. Despicable.

That makes me so nervous they posted that man's picture everywhere. I'd be terrified of "vigilante" justice being enacted

I'm so tired of worrying. I know I'm lucky enough not to have to worry about myself being targeted by police everyday, but I worry sick and have massive anxiety over my dad, uncles, and other family members anytime something happens. idek. It's soul crushing.

I don't think you quite understood my point.

I was actually talking about the many degrees, all abhorrent of course, that racism manifests itself. Yes this needs to be tackled but that can only be done through educations and it takes time as sad as that is. An immediate way of stopping incidents like this could be gun controls.

in any case Why are the majority of us cops carrying in the first place. It is not like this in much of Europe. And it is not because we don't have crime. Guns are only carried in extreme circumstances and because we don't allow almost anyone to carry a gun around, we don't need every cop to carry. Of course you can pose a threat through other means. But you seem to imply that if in some hypothetical world guns did not exists, cops would be going around hanging people which I don't think is true.

Again, not meaning to be controversial. But while we're on the subject of manifested racism, statements like "white people had lynching, ropes and whips" is no better to me. I'm a white person, my grandparents were white. I'm pretty sure none of them engaged in that behaviour just as many white people around the world.

Don't use america's horrific acts to paint all white people as evil. It's like me making a claim about black people on the basis of robert Mugabe.

I'm white and an American. My family's history in the United States begins in the 1950s, when my grandparents immigrated from Ireland. My family has no tangible ties to slavery, lynchings, etc. Despite that, my family benefitted from the centuries of white supremacy within the United States.

As a result of this white privilege, it is the responsibility of white folks to know the real history of the US and to know, recognize, talk about, and seek to dismantle that which perpetuates racial inequalities.

White folks who sit by and say "I have no connection to this" fail to recognize how the system inherently favors them, how the foundation of this country favors them, and how not speaking out is allowing the continued perpetuation of injustice.

You need to stop purporting yourself as a member of an offended, innocent group. If you have literally never in your life been complicit in an action that has facilitated the propagation of racism in any form, 'bully for you.' I doubt it, but in giving you the fringe benefit of the doubt, why are you defending white people when there is an irrationally large wealth of factual information that documents white racism against literally every other race? I'm being at the very least partially confrontational here...the reason your posts are being met with such opposition is because they are completely irrational given even the most cursory glance at human history. We get it. You have lived your life and learned the things that you've learned in accordance with the people who have taught you. Unfortunately for the argument of systemic ignorance, Google exists.

Gun control is a wholly different issue and mistaking statistical overlaps for unqualified correlations is also a rampant form of the safe ignorance that comes easily when you're not on the same side as a person who constantly fears for his/her life and those of his/her family.

edited for subject-verb agreement because my sister double-majored in English/History...

I'm not purporting to be one of the offended.

I'm saying we can't be sitting here talking about racist police and particularly how these people's perception of minorities has influenced their actions. While at the same time making sweeping statements about white people.

That's my only point. Both acts are two sides of the same coin. Now I know one resulted in deaths (before you jump down my throat for that) but psychologically they have the same root. Which is sweeping generalisation of a race based on the actions of a few.

I don't think speaking up against either form are mutually exclusive but people on here seem to think I'm arguing against the idea that racism towards black people is not an issue.

I'll reiterate. I'm sure you heard what I said but I'm not sure you understood what I meant.

To add its you thAt thinks I'm being irrational. At no point have I defended white people being racist.

I have spoken out against a sweeping statement that I believe the point stands regardless of which race the statement is made about.

Before you start accusing me of facilitating the propagation of racism you should maybe have asked what have I done to fight against racism.

And for those that think my point was "not all white folks" I'm afraid you have missed the point.

For those who also think my point was "I'm ignorantly innocent" have also missed my point completely.
