I hope so too. Nothing would better emulate the uselessness of these people by the improvement that would come from them not regularly targeting citizens. What chaos, exactly do you think would transpire? What do you actually think they do that keeps society running? I hear this all the time and I'm never given a logical explanation, just a confirmation that the poster was a delusional as he first let on.

    Chicago everywhere.

  3. I'm shocked--SHOCKED--that DPD and news affiliates are circulating a picture of a "suspect" when there's proof of him being down in the crowd in the immediate aftermath of the shooting. Gotta love the ridiculous misinformation that gets disseminated immediately following shit like this, putting more innocent people at risk.

Oh, and a former congressman openly threatening the president and BLM supporters on twitter. This is the best country.

Thank you. Am I supposed to feel sympathy? Anyone who becomes a cop accepts the things you mentioned above, its indoctrinated in what they do. Their power needs to be leveled, hopefully this gets the ball rolling.

Seriously? How stupid do you have to be to threaten the President on social media?

  6. It doesn't matter. Nothing will happen to him and they won't shut down his account because it isn't the "right" kind of extremism.

So, now the amount of cops who have been killed by citizens this year has risen to about 1:10 of the citizens killed by cops.

That ratio is so unacceptable to you that you'd like the cops to take time off and let "chaos" reign just so that we go back to the 1:20 ratio of yesteryear?

What exactly is your end game? This act of violence against police is not representative of any endemic: it is retributive to (presumably) an endemic of police killing citizens. So your solution is to let society kill itself for a while just so that we don't pressure the cops into correcting themselves?

My post may be shitty, but at least I have logic.

I know it must be frustrating and horrific at times to feel powerless against the powers that be for so long, and I honestly can't say for sure that I have a full understanding of the extent of which there are police officers who need to lay off and suck an egg vs those who have their hearts and minds in the right place. But there seems to be plenty of evidence that suggests many police officers represent a variety of cultures other than a dominant oppressive one. Not that that doesn't exist and shouldn't be done away with via restructuring laws as reaction to more protesting - that makes more sense to me than violence against police officers in general, but as a white male who has only been pulled over a few times over the past few years I have to admit that there's only so much certainty I can feel about this as far as personal experience goes.

That's a good point. I remember reading in the back of the phone booth that by placing a police officer at either end of the street, suddenly you'll have clean drinking water and the memory of a systematically racist and sexist education system wiped from your memory. Also the roads fix themselves, income inequality ceases to exist, and everyone is in good health and their city blocks receives proper treatment and funding.

Like, are you going to tell me that New York has no crime now or something? Because clearly the addition of officers doesn't do any good either.

It's funny. I knew a guy who was a member of Chicago PD.

He was also a thug for the Italian mob who beat up dudes of CraigsList and was a huge fucking racist.

Anyways, Chicago PD is shit. Read up on them.

I'd say make the cops be held accountable for their actions. Kill a citizen, suspended for a year with no pay. They come back and do it again, permanent disbarment from law enforcement of any kind for life. It'll never happen but if it did, it be a nice warning to make them toe the line.

i'm writing a book, leave me alone.

it's ridiculous and terribly idiotic that a basketball player was just suspended / kicked out of the league for at least 2 years for 1 failed drug test, but cops who kill unarmed members of society get paid leave for a number of months and then will be back to work.

So just to be clear, you both support the killing of any police officers because they are police officers?

Wait what? Are you saying this for any shootings, justified or not? If they can be found criminally responsible (haha), they should get a sentence heavier than any citizen would.

I assume youre trolling here with the whole "make them accountable by not making them accountable at all" suggestion.

I think realistically, the blue wall isn't going to arrest their own and there's no way they're going to prosecute their own. Call it whatever, it's a random thought that will never happen anyway.

so i was looking at that guardian page of all the people by cops in the past two years. Am i opening up a can of worms when noticing that more unarmed white men were killed by cops in the past two years than black men? the numbers are close, but I had anticipated a much larger disparity.

There are far more white men than black men in the US. For the numbers to be even close signals that black men are killed at a much higher rate

shocked about the details given during the recent press conference. i don't watch a lot of press conferences, but it seems like those types of details ("they said 'the end is coming'" and that bombs are 'all over the place') are usually left out to avoid additional panic.

and the website they directed people to is down due to traffic.

If you hate cops and want them all to kill themselves then you should probably follow TWISBP&IANLATD on Twitter. If you don't feel that way I wouldn't recommend it.

    Be my alibi?

Honest question to those of you in here. Do any of you notice cops actively being part of your community?

I grew up in the 80's and early 90's and the police would patrol neighborhoods and socialize with people, hand out worthless sports collecting cards, and even stickers. They actually gained public trust by letting people know, "hey, we're here for you". Not that it made a fully trusting relationship, but it eased tensions when events did arise. But now, I don't see that, granted I'm not a kid on my bike riding in the back ally's or playing whatever games in the streets. But I notice cops sitting in their cars ignoring people in need of assistance and separating themselves from the communities that they are suppose to be protecting when they are actively looking for reasons to ticket you.
