It's in reference to their now-sicko former lead singer

Just curious why you're critical of Lostprophets having toured in the past, but you're cool with As I Lay Dying touring currently?

I'm not normally into instrumental stuff, especially the wanky, I'm not really playing a song, I'm just doing cool shit on the guitar to show you how badass I am, stuff, but this is done really tastefully and the riffs are sick.

I may have spoken too soon. I was really into the first few tracks on that record, but it got a little stale after that. It's still worth listening to, but my praise might have been a little over the top.

The stars are clearly aligning because I just rediscovered this dude a few days ago. I spun his shit nonstop in college like 2006.I saw him in NY. At the time he was looking to recruit a second guitarist and my buddy auditioned and he was asked to join...turns out the guy is a massive dick and my friend turned the offer down. I want to say for a bit he collaborated with the guitarist from all shall perish for some wank project, that fizzled. Then he got huuuuge into bodybuilding and roided up (with the accompanying rage ala Tim lambesis, everything comes back to Tim).

Your assessment is spot on btw, it's enjoyable and very creative but personally I can't keep my interest for a full album.

I'd never heard of him before. Just downloaded it on a whim and was impressed after the first few tracks. Like most instrumental stuff, I get bored pretty quickly, but this held my attention slightly longer than usual. Sucks to hear that the guy is a dick, but I probably wasn't going to dive deeper into this catalog than this anyway (unless you think there's something older that's worth checking out).

In adjacent stuff, the new Sheer Mag is damn great if Thin Lizzy and other old school hard rock stuff are up your alley:

I agree with everything that was said in regards to Tim and AILD. I think it’s just bad taste at this point to post anything. It’s very clear this thread does not want it here.

Corey wasn't being critical of touring with them in the past; he was just pointing out how they toured with a band who ended up having a sicko lead singer. I'd love to get Corey's thoughts on the whole Tim/AILD thing

    It's very good

Pittsburgh's own. I wish they'd just go full gore/goregrind, their vocalist is filthy

Another throwback to my college days, didn't even know they were still making music, this is good

Not sure if you guys have seen videos from Rick Beato but he breaks down songs of all kinds literally to a millisecond scale to talk about what makes the songs great, he recently did one for Plini (also how rad is it that steve vai recommended Plini to him)

Matt fox's side project, it's fine, catchy

Still think these guys can do no wrong

It was the “cool thing” to hate them but hopefully it’s over and people realize they were and still are a good band.

I’m sure getting Keith Buckley on the album is helping a lot as well.

I think the new record is pretty undeniable. I never hated them, but I never really got the hype before now either. This album solidified it for me instantly.

Keith's spot kills. Feels like the song was written for him to appear on.

I like the song, but it does feel sort of “tacked on”. Either way, he does well with it.

knocked loose have always been incredibly meh to me and the new album doesn't really do anything to change that. vocals just sound like a halfbaked jacob bannon impression most of the time.

Knocked Loose converted me with their new release, though I definitely think there are some tweaks they could generally make to be an even better band. Though those probably stem from mosh heavy/beatdown hardcore not being my forte.
