To be sure, I don't think the album's perfect. There's a handful of songs (A Weak Ago, Elephant) that I think are pretty 'meh.'

But the tracks I love are enough to gloss over the others. I'm still blown away by the opening of "I've Learned to Love Myself," when those guitars and drums come crashing in. I'm still like, "Holy shit, this is epic and beautiful and ominous!" Same with the title track, Copper Colored Quiet, Foriegn Cab Rides, most of the album honestly.

 

Dude, YES!!! Even my little pop-punk ass loved Public Enemy!

Not that this helps my credentials, but I. saw this song in this Kia Hamster commericials years ago and finally rediscovered it. Perfect example of what I'm talking about:

 

Speaking of Letlive, am I the only one who doesn't hate/kinda likes the production on TBB? It sounds gritty and dirty in a way I feel really suits it.

I think a good portion of music played on the radio is garbage.

 

I like the music played on the radio but when they play the same songs over and over I grow to hate them. Like no hate I love Carly and the song, but the pop station here still plays Call Me Maybe regularly lol and that Icona Pop song. It's the same songs over and over for years and the rotation rarely changes. I was on a 12 hour car ride recently and my sister made us listen to the radio the entire way and I wanted to die.

I like that new Meghan Trainor song on the radio and I hate myself a lil bit. I honestly thought it was some new on the scene black popstar singing it at first or one of those 5H girls with a new solo song omg what is with her accent?? either way shaaaame me

I like Beyonce's music, but I just can't get into the whole "She is infallible" vibe I'm getting.
and I think the poetry spoken on Lemonade would have been less distracting if Warsan Shire herself said it because it sounded so distracting.

I used to work with a guy who exclusively listened to "rock." Metallica, Korn, Five finger who gives a fuck - all of that stuff, and that stuff only. Anything else was "hipster" music. He lived in a world where money was the only way to know if a band was talented. However, that rich band had better be a rock band, otherwise it's hipster once again!
What a joy to talk to, that guy.
