I don't even remember what I got from my Neighborhoods mystery bundle, I just remember giving it to goodwill a few weeks later.

 

These Colleen Green covers rule. Just proves that Dude Ranch is the superior album

 

I won’t say it’s their best album (it’s like 4th to me) but it’s still a good one

Hey, you know how I am with this band. I honestly don’t think there is a right or wrong answer to what their best album is (unless you say Neighborhoods. Then I respectfully say no)

 

I'm just being obnoxious but I genuinely do feel that way. I think it's every good part about the band (and yeah some of the worst qualities) boiled down into a perfect album. Voyeur is a dumb song but it sounds great. Riffs, melodies, Mark and Tom playing off each other and lyrics are all top notch. I don't know how to talk about music like the other dorks on here but the guitar/drum sound on this is so unique compared to their other stuff (and a lot of other stuff).

Now you got me thinking about what it would sound like if they re-recorded Dude Ranch in like 2000 with Jerry Finn & Travis on drums.

 

I think Dude Ranch needs to be what it is, as much as I love Finn. It sounds raw and still punk in a way that sets it apart from the sound of Enema and TOYPAJ. Maybe it’s just an album I’ve listened to over ten billion times so I just can’t imagine it sounding better, but I love it as is.

 

Just say things like ‘slaps’ ‘bangs’ ‘a banger’ and you’ll fit right in

Dude Ranch is pretty much to what God Damnit from the Trio is to me now, albums that don't connect to me anymore.

 

I remember being in grade school and just starting bass lessons and I was so frustrated that I couldn't get it to sound exactly like Mark on Dude Ranch coming out of whatever shit amp I bought at the store
