I always feel it's kinda weird and unfair when people try to rank or rate albums like the first day they've had with them, both positive and negative. Let the music breathe a little, let it feel lived, and lived in. Let it marinate in your mind. Try divorcing it from or associating it to the time it's coming out in. So much to consider.

If I walked backstage and saw both Taylor and Beyoncé crying I’d just cancel the show and order a huge plate of French fries.

I needed Soon You’ll Be Better when my aunt was in the hospital with leukemia. I’m so glad Taylor finally wrote about her mom’s struggle with cancer. It’s...very hard to put all of that into words going through it.

Just finished my first listen. Overall, I enjoyed it. Some songs were definitely better than others, and I think my favorite song so far is "The Archer".

I usually wholeheartedly agree with what you're saying. For instance, people ranking an album as an artist's best after like two days is something that always makes me roll my eyes (lots of that happened in The National thread back when that album came out). In this case, though, I totally get someone saying "I like this a lot better than Reputation" even after one or two listens. That album was a pretty big departure from what she'd done in the past and was a tough pill to swallow for some of us at first. It definitely grew on me, and I enjoy most of it at this point. But this is definitely way more my speed, musically and lyrically. I'm pretty confident it will be above that album in my eventual/future rankings.

This album is phenomenal. Only a couple of weaker tracks for me, and a whole lot of highs. I used to think as a hard rule that it is dumb for an artist to not release the best and strongest tracks from an album as a single / singles, but I think there is an exception when you are operating at the level she is here. It is a power move.

It is a bad move to release the worst song on the record as your lead single, however.

I definitely agree with your statement here. I have only listened to the album once so far, but I think my least favorite track was "London Boy". Your point still stands though.

scientific take of the four I would’ve released as a single in which order based on four full listens

I definitely like Me! more than London Boy and I Think He Knows.

Honestly I wish the timeline where Me was for Trolls 2 existed

I can't even decide which songs would've made the best singles at this point, but there are a lot of them. Just not the ones they picked! Haha. There's gotta be about a dozen or so.

i... uh... fuck I don't know how to say this but

I like Me! now. Especially now that she had that cringy line taken out.

The Springsteen namedrop alone makes "London Boy" better than "Me." But I also really don't like Brendon Urie's voice, so that doesn't help the latter.

I like that even Stans tried to justify Me and say it was for a childrens movie soundtrack but Taylor really just made THAT kidz bop anthem

I didn't make it that far into "London Boy". I'll have to try again. Yeah, I honestly think Brendon Urie's voice is a huge part of why I don't really like "ME" at all, because I don't like his voice at all either. Otherwise, it is not my favorite type of Taylor Swift song, but it's not the type that would usually bother me at all either.

It is hilarious that False God and Me! are even in the same half of the album together
