Finally made a playlist out of the Trilogy stuff that works for me. 12 songs that get me going. Listening to it reminds me of Nimrod/Warning eras. If there was one thing I appreciate most about the trilogy, it’s the production and guitar tones. Anyways, thought I’d share even though I’m sure these songs aren’t people’s favorites haha.

 

I actually quite like the trilogy but the guitar tones are my least favorite part of it lol

 

Haha. It almost sounds like he uses Gretsch guitars all over the trilogy. Ivery well could be wrong. They just have a specific sound to them. I like the tones because they remind me of Nimrod/Warning.

 

Awesome playlist! Only thing I would add is the 25 other songs.

 

Trilogy guitar tones are "great" sounding in a guitar tone sense but to me the sound is so so so wrong for the material. Really everything about the super glossy trilogy production is oh so wrong for the material. Demolicious sounds pretty cool though.

 

The hate for the trilogy never ceases to fascinate me

 

There are a lot of mediocre songs with uninspiring lyrics.

 

Not me. Most of the trilogy stinks.

 

In my GD head canon, the band was writing music more fitting of another low-key Warning type release but they were afraid to go small after American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown.

It seems like the idea to do a trilogy came around and spread them too thin, and many/all of the songs sound way under developed as a result. Also, drugs.
