though those early live performances of Please Take Me Home are worth noting for being a little different than the album version (i think the "be strong when things fall apart" section from the bridge is also the second verse or something like that)

 

Yeah, there's that one early live recording of "Please Take Me Home" (that was titled "Jessica" on Napster haha) that seems to have unfinished lyrics. There's also an early recording of "Happy Holidays" that they performed at a stop during the Mark, Tom, and Travis Show tour 2000.

 

just listened to it again and have to wonder if the part where it slows down around 3:13 before speeding back up again for the final chorus was indicative of what they were planning to do with the song or just a random bit of improv ha

 

"Mark's wrooooong, Travis is wroooong.... I'm wrong." I have that whole recording memorized. I listened to it soooo often back in the day.

 

Happy Holidays was played in NJ, which is a pretty good sounding bootleg.

They also randomly played an early version of Mother’s Day back in I want to say 1998 that’s on Youtube.

I should but it’s more about me never going to listen to say a 1995 bootleg where you can barely make out the audio or the sound is just horrible.
