honestly what's the deal with them not dropping Up All Night? i don't dislike it, and i know they like parts of Neighborhoods, but it's probably the weirdest pick being Tom-heavy and far from a fan favorite... they do know it's not a fan favorite, right?

doesn't matter if it's a single or anything, they should know the crowd would react way better to something like Going Away to College, Don't Leave Me, or deep cuts from TOYPAJ (which are so so rare). if they have to represent all their albums, then why not Heart's All Gone or After Midnight, which i'm sure would sound great with Matt?

anyway, excited to see what the new set will be like in a couple weeks.

Anyway I tend to listen to music when I'm cleaning and we were baby sitting my nephews today and the 7 year old asked me to play the "tenderloin" song again. I couldn't figure out what he was talking about so I shuffled through the playlist and he made me stop at "Sober" because apparently he thought Mark kept saying "I'm a tenderloin" and found it to be hilarious. Being 7 must be great.

I can still listen to and enjoy Enema of the State the same way I can watch and enjoy comedies from the 80's and 90's.. Yes, there were some sexist lyrics and other things that would be deemed offensive nowadays, but that didn't make them terrible God-awful people. They're just jokes. I don't think it was ever blinks intention to put down or offend a gender (I've personally never met a girl who was/is offended by blink, and I grew up with 4 older sisters who really enjoy that album). They were a band that added humor to their songs. Dumpweed wasn't meant to be critiqued and taken seriously, it was written by a young musician about a guy who doesn't want a crazy girlfriend and we know Tom wasn't trying to say "Hey everybody, go find a girl that you can treat like an animal". I know I'll probably get shit on for saying this, but that's how i feel about it.

I totally feel the same way, and I'm a girl.

I wonder how many female singers have lyrics that degrade guys and if guys get offended by it?...I doubt it would even be an issue.

Lol, I'm not having this argument anymore, but remain absolutely baffled at how far out of their way people go to entirely miss the point just so they don't have to be critical of something they like because they take it as a personal attack or reflection of themselves for liking it.

And honestly, I don't give a fuck whether someone likes the song or not. I never called them terrible people or insinuated anyone that likes it is terrible, in fact I specifically said "it was so long ago I don't hold it against them," but that doesn't negate that it's crap. Everybody likes questionable problematic things. One of my favorite rappers is DMX despite his horrific homophobia among other things, but I acknowledge that it's fucking awful and he has some fucking awful views and I'm not going to argue or try to invalidate anyone who doesn't like what he does or isn't interested in discussing whatever other nuance he has to offer because of it. You can admit in the same breath the fact (sure it's sexist) that it's problematic but then go on to defend it and brush it off as a a non-problem (but only because you took it that way) at the same time and that makes no sense.

Because of his inflection it sounds like he's saying "calm" and for some reason that makes it even funnier.

starting to regret not seeing them when Neighborhoods came out. I doubt they'll play much from that album moving forward and there's a ton of songs I love on it. Hopefully they play San Diego on the upcoming tour.

This is f-ing unbelievable. NO reviews for Blink to this date, and now we have a pretty good one. This is a total win! P4k once gave Alk3 MICF 2.0, then kinda 6.0 for Alk3 FHtI. They always hated the scene I loved. Jawbreaker's masterpiece Dear You? 2.0! Then it was re-reviewed, hahaha. But whatever. My point is that blink is making pop punk (and thus any punk-related stuff) relevant again.

Hahahah yes! Also, I'd like to admit that maybe I'm wrong and pop punk was always relevant — in US. Im from Europe, and here we've got more techno and raves than local punk shows. And back in... 2008, for example, things were pretty different. This must be changed.

    P.s. I love raves though :)

Has anyone ever seen AvA live? Does Tom make jokes?

And for the people who have seen Blink w/Skiba live, is there on stage banter like there was with Tom. I have seen Alkaline Trio over a dozen times and Matt and Dan barely talk at all haha.

There was almost no stage banter with Mark when I saw them 2 weeks ago. Only part of the show that was lacking for me, really.

Tom doesn't really make jokes with AVA, at least to the extent that he does with Blink. He tries to make himself seem really serious. He does do this weird dancing shit, though I don't think it's intentionally supposed to look funny. They haven't toured in like 4 years at this point though.

FWIW I've seen blink 3 times since their reunion and Mark and Tom barely joked around with each other. The only time I can remember was when Tom fell down in the middle of playing What's My Age Again and Mark was busting his balls over it. Otherwise they just played.

Tom would usually go into short story intros about how inspiring the next song is. Taking it waaaaay too seriously.
