I have had friends put on an episode or show me clips and I might get a chuckle here or there but it still never made me want to push through the early seasons. The only one I specifically remember is them drinking tons of beers on a plane ride to beat a record.

I think I quit around s6 or 7 because at a certain point so much of the humor just turned into them predictably screaming at each other.

The only time I laughed was when Charlie and the one with the slicked back hair stole a bunch of Danny DeVito's money and were dressed up as 1800's aristocrats, but that is mostly because I have seen that as a meme before.

That episode is arguably the first truly great one in the series. Dennis and Dee realizing that they missed their appointment by an hour..... and a day is incredible.

My unpopular opinion is that IASIP’s prime is way better than Seinfeld’s.

It's slightly unfair, since IAS didn't have to satisfy a 23 or 24-episode order every season. But I stand by it.

I could understand, there are times where Always Sunny is so mean it isn't fun, I like it but I could understand it not being someone's cup of tea

At first I thought this comparison was a bit apples-to-oranges, but the more I think about it, the more Always Sunny seems like a pretty apt Seinfeld-for-a-different-time.

It has a little more time to impress me. I am watching Star Trek too, and that is worse right now.

Keep going! As others have said, I really don’t think those first two seasons are a fair indication of the quality of writing that the show reaches over time.

On another note, I think Seinfeld is the better show, but I think I enjoy Sunny during its golden era (season 3-7, arguably) more. And there’s a lot of classic episodes sprinkled throughout all of the other later seasons too.

It’s worth following through. One of my favorite shows

I like it but never got as into it as my friends. It’s not a show I can put 3-4 episodes on in a row, after two I’m satisfied.

I feel like it's popular online to say friends doesn't age well and like I get it in terms of the homophobic gay panic bs and the whiteness of it and other problematic things. In terms of the character development I relate more and more over time tho. As a kid I liked the obvious physical comedy from Ross or the silly jokes from Joey. As I get older I def appreciate where they are in the early seasons: feeling lonely and confused and broke and lacking direction. I'm always finding different things to appreciate. Rn my big one is when Chandler thinks he's going to be crazy snake man and the speech where he says he complains that he's lonely but then nitpicks and isolates from anyone who actually wants to be around him.

Ross has a terrible attitude about women but outside of that is often very funny

I’ve always thought the It’s Always Sunny / Seinfeld comparison was kinda lazy just because the Seinfeld “no hugging no learning” ethos was an actually novel sitcom idea at the time, so to just have a similar format but more absurd and explicit isn’t really pushing the boundaries in the same way. Even though I was pretty young I remember when Parks and Rec and Community came out and feeling like they were way more refreshing shows by virtue of outright rejecting that kind of Gen X cynicism that was still so prevalent (while still being good obvsly)
