That’s nonsense! The Office was only based on factual information about the characters. This would be like asking, “what if the actress playing Meredith actually hates alcohol?”

In “Performance Review” when Michael is going through the suggestion box there is the suggestion about help for depression from “Tom” who Phyllis says worked in accounting “until about a year ago” (and then indicates that he killed himself and Michael calls him ‘weird’ lol).

This means that Dunder Mifflin Scranton had FOUR people working in accounting for a branch of... less than 15 people including the accountants. And they already made he joke that they have 3 people doing the job of 2 people in the Halloween episode yet somehow they had FOUR people doing the job of 2 people at one time lmao

 

Maybe one of the current accountants replaced him

 

I was thinking that but I think we learn throughout the series that the 3 we know have been there for a long time (longer than the year since Tom died). I don’t think we ever get specifics but there are scenes where the dialogue implies that (I think).

 

Meredith was apparently an accountant in season 1 too.

No, Kevin was hired as an accountant because Michael specifically says he was applying for the warehouse but that he had a feeling about him

 

That one decision sums up Michael’s entire DM tenure so well
