I came out last year but unexpectedly my brother has also just come out and I have no idea how to feel...

 

Went to Ptown for a few days during Bear Week and it was honestly the most comfortable I've ever felt about myself. I'm 33. Isn't that kind of sad? Anyway, it was fabulous. So Fabulous that my husband and I booked a trip back for SpookyBear!

Also, our friend made us fun shirts for the trip. I'll try and share a photo of one of them.

 

I am astonished by the number of trans masc folks who have no issues with language when it comes to using proper pronouns, but dismiss post-op folks' requests to be respectful with word choices when it comes to post-op bodies.

Mofo over here saying he wont get phalloplasty bc he wants a "real" dick and I'M the sensitive one when I explain that my dick is in fact real and ask him to check his word choices

Assholes like that are why post-op folks vanish online after surgery. Fuck.

 

This is seriously so maddening. You can use proper pronouns but saying "cis-looking" instead of "real" is a bridge too far. OKAY THEN

I had a trans man comment today on a tweet I made about phalloplasty. He apparently regrets his surgery and thought he could save me from doing it by linking me to his website. He deleted his tweet after I told him I'd had phallo. Went to his profile to see what his deal was and he's found "support" with TERFs and MAGAts.

Did the trans community fuck up here somehow? Was there no space for this dude to express his regrets around surgery in a way that didn't end up alienating him...to the point that his "encouragement" is now solely from people who call him she and consider all trans related surgery to be mutilation? From people who say "yeah! Until this surgery is successful kids shouldn't have it!" When a) no kids are having phallo and b) their definition of success is being happy with the body you have now, without surgery

For what it's worth, this guy went to a surgeon who is now known in the community for his predatory nature and "botched" surgeries that resulted in him no longer doing ANY surgery in California due to the malpractice suits. Only practices in TX now. Not that that should matter...

I feel all kinds of ways right now about this shit

 

Also that "I'm the ___ in a movie"meme going around on Twitter reminds me that there are 3 movies about trans dudes and they are all awful

 

I swear I heard about one coming out that sounded fucked up, where some cis dude pretends to be trans to date some woman.

Yeesh. Yeah, the whole thing is very confusing to me, from those involved, though I guess with so seemingly few opportunities for trans people in hollywood I'm not sure I can totally blame them, to those who greenlit the film in the first place.

Weird technology experience today. I used a text auto-reply service to schedule a tour of an apartment. The reply came back "hi [birthname] you're scheduled"

I've never interacted with this rental place or that service. My name has been legally changed for 2+ years. I've had the same number since 2004 but the right name is on my cell phone account.

Maybe some weird Google thing? Kinda ruined the whole thing for me but we NEED to move so I'm keeping the appt
