I found out Tosh was still on earlier this year and had to come here to talk about how totally baffling that was. That shocks me even more than SP.

 

I used to looove robot chicken, wonder how the recent seasons compare to the older stuff

 

Supernatural is still on the air?

 

That’s at least canceled.

 

I stopped watching more than a decade ago (minus the "Star Wars" specials) after they did several sketches making fun of mentally challenged people. I thought for sure it would run out of pop culture references at this point.

I liked Robot Chicken a whole lot until I showed it to one of my best friends in 2008 and she was like “idgi, all they’re doing is saying ‘fuck’ a bunch”. At first I thought it was a needlessly dismissive take, but I couldn’t stop thinking about it and shortly afterward realized it was kinda true. Haven’t seen it since

 

Robot Chicken is mostly good for killing ten or so minutes. Can't imagine there's been TOO many recent instances of them making fun of mentally challenged people (I won't question that it happened early on tho), especially when someone like Rachel Bloom was a writer for a period of time. That said, it's not a bad show but a lot of it's pretty samey

 

Despite my dislike for Tosh.0, I have a lot of respect for Daniel Tosh the man. He’s a big donor at the Best Friends Animal Shelter in Los Angeles/the valley. Their goal is to make LA an entirely kill-free city, and they’ve already dropped the number significantly. My wife volunteers there and we’re currently fostering some kittens from the shelter until they’re able to be adopted. He and a few other celebrities have plaques with their names on them outside the shelter. If he uses that Tosh.0 money to help kittens and puppies find homes then I guess it’s not so bad.

 

there's a whole section of youtube that is very wholesome and educational and you're missing out if you're not involved in that.

 

why not focus on the bullshit channels as being obviously bullshit and focus on the good ones ya

Agreed. They’re more annoying than funny to me, especially Charlie.

 

I have given it two full seasons so far. It feels like they just choose something to be intentionally offensive and work backwards from there. It is a less clever Seinfeld.

 

I got three seasons in and felt the same way.

 

Season three is definitely when it starts to hit the classics, with four probably being the true greatest hits era. One is absolutely a huge step below everything else, lots of early installment weirdness happening. They actually do a great job of growing with the times instead of digging their heels in on being needlessly offensive.

 

Exactly this. I don’t think there’s a fan in their legitimately right mind that wouldn’t acknowledge in retrospect that the show was needlessly offensive in its early days. If the characters/style of dialogue are your problem then I’d say the show probably isn’t worth continuing, but if it’s the problematic plot points then I’d argue to give it some time because it does get a lot better
