I've now read two articles about this case and unless there is some crazy evidence out there that hasn't been reported...this was a despicable case for prosecutors to bring.

Nahh, it's going to stay pretty blue from here on out, especially as more and more people move to the urban areas

  3. [TW: Sexual Assault]

I find that hard to believe. As someone that's run forums for 20+ years I think the "cliquey vibe" is one of the constants I've seen from forums with 10 people all the way up to the one with 500,000 people.

I don't know what I'm supposed to consider? That a community of people includes a good portion that have similar beliefs and ideas and when someone says something so outside of that, there's backlash? I mean, there's the jokes about people liking different types of food and the ribbing that goes with that, and then there's making a mathematical probability argument out of thin air for the probability of a musician having actually assaulted someone based on nothing beside a hunch and then doubling down and asking for a policy of "one accusation announcement per thread page" for that musician. Do you really not see why you would get a lot of pushback for this, from this community specifically, and why I would then not trust your judgement, or calculus, at all in future conversations when you've said, this:
Whereas some of you evidently judge the probability of it being from a real woman who met Maynard backstage in 2000 to be over 50%, my judgment (and plenty of others, including those in mainstream outlets who reported on the allegations but have since continued treat Tool as a legitimate, untarnished entity) is something more like 10-20%, with all mitigating factors considered. You have every right to hate me for making that judgment, and I accept criticism on that basis.

... in regard to calculating the probability of an accusation against some musician you like?

Do you really think it's good faith to make the argument that a sexual assault accusation is fake? What about that is a good faith discussion? (And people even then went out of their way to talk to you about it.) You made an argument that you thought there was only a 10-20% chance someone was raped. I don't know how to have a conversation with someone that says that and thinks it's "good faith." Based on statements like that: I think your judgement is not in the adjacent 10% ... I think it's diametrically opposed.

I know I am late to the party here, but these HARDO t-shirts are hysterically cracking me up.

Everything about them is ridiculously amusing, but the odd detail of throwing in what month you were born in between how much YOU LIKE BOOBS! and listing how insecure and intolerant you are is the detail that puts the whole thing over the top for me.
