I’ve only heard the singles but I feel like “Birth of the Cruel” is Jay finally finding his place in Slipknot on drums. Absolutely creative and pushes the band into a great, groovy territory.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

On the last two albums I'd agree but the creepy samples and percussion came back in a big way on this album and I'm super happy bout it

  3. Honest question, why are Craig and Sid both in the band? I would assume that a “DJ” would do both samples and turntables in any other band..?

I wonder about this too (though it is super cool how many people are on stage so it def adds to live show aesthetics). I’d be interested in soloing out their parts on tracks to see what each is doing

    hmmm

I've got too many things to say about this album. It's all so fucking great. How can a song like Spiders work so well for a band like Slipknot? And My Pain is amazing.

I'm not sure there's an experiment on here that doesn't work.

Am I too excited when I say this might be the best use of electronics/samples on a metal album since White Pony? Probably.

I like how Slipknot has one of the extraneous dudes -- probably Sid or Craig -- running on a treadmill thing on their current live setup, just like Rammstein does with Flake when he isn't making computer noises

Sid has long had a tradition of doing crazy stuff on stage when the song doesn't call for scratches. He broke both his feet doing a stage jump once.

Craig doesn't move all that much on stage, by contrast.

If I was wearing that helmet Craig wears, I probably wouldn’t move much either

Who knew Slipknot and Korn would come back full force in 2019 with their best albums in years (assuming the rest of the Korn album will live up to the first 2 amazing singles)?
