yeah but how many of those teams are paying 3 OLineman a shitload of money per year?

Sign Jaylon and probably not Jones.
The three main offensive lineman we have are locked up through 2023/2024 and the way their contracts are hitting the cap are going down every year in relation to what new contracts would be for their respective positions. Also, they can be cut with no dead money in a year or two if they end up getting injured or decline in performance.

Who are some of the under-the-radar players from your teams that you're looking forward to watching in the preseason?

I'm mostly excited about NYJ rookie LBs Jachai Polite and Blake Cashman. WR Deontay Burnett is another player that I hope does enough to stick around.

Also, less than half of Frederick’s, Martin’s, and Smith’s guaranteed money is remaining on their contract even though we have them for 5-6 more years.

If Preston Williams can get out of his own way, he'll be a good one in this league

    The rivalry is back on

Not specific players as much as I’m excited to see if anyone emerges to win these roster battles

WR 5 (and maybe 6): Zach Pascal vs Marcus Johnson vs Reece Fountain vs Deon Cain

CB 5 & 6: Jalen Collins vs Marvell Tell vs Chris Milton vs Nate Hairston

Also now I’m interested to see if Foreman does enough to warrant keeping 4 RBs on the roster

A healthy Deon Cain shits on all of those dudes

Also, Marvell Tell is a baller. Wish the Jets had him.

Yeah, I’d really like to see Cain run away with that job and force his way on the roster. Maybe even have two of those guys (Fountain?) kill it and make the coaching staff think long and hard about keeping Chester Rogers around.

My gut is that Tell gets cut and they hope to stash him on the practice squad, but I’d love for him to prove me wrong. Supposedly Hairston’s been balling at camp and I was so high on him last year that I’d love to see him bounce back. Collins is another wildcard where the dude is so talented that watching him finally put it together would be great too

Now I want to trade for Cain and Tell in Madden 20.

Cain would've been the such a fast shitter in AP's Madden league.

Jesus, we were spending $27 million on Dez/Romo in 2017 and then $17 million for them in 2018. Finally gonna be done with their contracts this year, thank god. “Perfect” timing.

Lol the Lions are fifth with a 3rd round receiver and 2nd round RB hahaha

Not sure if some of these could be described as “under the radar,” but these are the Eagles players I’m most interested in watching this preseason:

    JJ Arcega-Whiteside
    Miles Sanders
    Andre Dillard
    Avonte Maddox
    Sidney Jones
    Cre’Von LeBlanc
    Rasul Douglas

Then of course I’m looking forward to watch DeSean Jackson play with Wentz at some point this preseason. I’m interested to see how Malik Jackson gels with the defensive line too

    I’m interested in:

    Rudolph vs. Dobbs for QB2
Benny Snell. He’s firmly RB3 but he’s very intriguing
Adeniyi. I doubt he’d take snaps away from Dupree, but he’s still super solid.

They will be as soon as they punt Tyron Smith's 29th contract adjustment down the road.

The Eagles restructure their contracts the same way we do it and people get on here and praise Howie for being a god. But when we do it people make fun of Jerry, haha

Not saying you’re doing this, just pointing it out.

Oh, I'm doing it. So you can say it lol. Listen, contract restructures happen a lot and can be a beneficial thing but when you do it as much as the Cowboys have with one player, that's eventually going to come back to get them. I mean, they signed Tyron Smith to an 8 year deal in 2014 and then restructured him in:

    2015
    Tyron Smith Restructured By Cowboys

    2016
Cowboys restructure Tyron Smith's contract, create more cap room

    2017
Source: Cowboys restructure contracts of Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick to free up cap space

which then leads to articles like this in 2018 (granted its primarily injury related but still, scrambling to find outs for a deal you've already kicked down the road 3 times in the first four years is insane).

Tyron Smith: Do Cowboys have “Worst Case” Outs for His Contract?

The 2019 restructure hasn't happened yet but you figure if they try and sign the big three before the season starts (or at least a combination of them, it might be coming).

Tyron is still an extremely great player and is signed until 2023 at a very team friendly amount per season.

Restructuring long contracts like this is risky because of injuries or sudden huge declines in quality of play, but it’s risky for EVERY team so people acting as if we’re nuts for restructuring often when other teams are smart for doing the exact same thing... that just doesn’t make sense at all.

Just a quick google shows the Eagles do it once or twice a season with their players. Why is that so different than us? Or the dozens of other teams who also do it?

Also, that articles just confirms that his current contract status is very beneficial to us as far as yearly cap hit and the fact that we have an easy out in two years if he does get injured beyond repair.

All of this, plus the fact that his yearly hit is lowering each season in comparison to what other elite tackles will be signing for, just reaffirms that restructuring him has worked out extremely well for us.

And it can for y’all, too. And other teams who do the same thing. I just think the double standard is ridiculous.

@Dinosaurs Dish who are you looking forward to watching this year the most?

Offense - Gallup, easily. He really started to come into his own in the latter half of the season, most likely because Cooper was drawing coverage but he should be doing that this year as well, so I’m pumped to see him and Dak after a ton of reps together. There were 5-10 plays where he was wide open and some balls were overthrown and some were just him slowing down on his route by mistake, so I think with more time they’re going to be a great connection.

Defense - LVE/Smith. We’ve already seen them seemingly jump up to near elite together. I can see them being the best LB duo in the league this year.

Yeah, same here. I loved Michael Gallup coming out. LVE/Smith is a stupid good duo.
