I don't know...he took the time to make a response specifically to a JL tweet and made it sound like a similar situation.

Also, I don't follow 3EB at all...so this is definitely new to me (and probably many others).

Yeah not correcting the JL comparison is pretty telling imo

    Just announce the album already.

Unless someone is directly going to speak to a situation, no one needs a bunch of forty year olds having a twitter battle when they could have addressed this on tour. Not saying Zach is wrong about his thoughts, it just feels self serving.

I mean yeah it’s self serving it’s just something he wanted to get off his chest that he couldn’t while he was on tour. Twitter is inhereintly a self serving platform. Who cares? It’s still important people know, and even if it’s an obvious known fact to you that Stephan (stop calling him Jenkins that’s MY NAME) is an asshole jerk creep others clearly weren’t aware if you see all the reactions and replies to his tweet.

Why is it important people know that someone is an asshole jerk creep? Anyone that would potentially be affected by him can figure that out on their own, I’m not sure a low opinion of someone is worth a vaguebook PSA but that’s a losing battle round these parts

So that they can not support them and encourage others to not support them either? And, uh, if things like this don’t get talked about by people who know firsthand, then other people can’t “figure that out on their own”, can they?

Also: if you don’t like how things are “round these parts”, there are plenty of places on the internet where people don’t care about these things.

you’re right dude if you know someone is a creep just keep it to yourself people can find out on their own

get the fuck out of here, it’s only a losing battle around these parts for you because you consistently post bad faith contrarian bullshit

posted it in the accountability thread but there is a reply in the comments to Zach's tweet that seems to directly call out SJ as being a rapist, going on to say she has permission from the victim to "put him on blast"....and the original tweet is from January.

Is the irony really lost on some that they're posting "why is someone posting about X on their personal twitter account” while they're sitting here posting about it over and over again in a forum?

Much rather have a musician call out someone they toured with for being a creep/jerk on twitter than have them enable or defend that sort of behavior, which is the norm in the music industry.

This is a terrible take. This type of stuff should be talked about. Needs to be talked about.

If any member of JEW or their crew saw behaviour from a band they were supporting (or if they had an opening band), I’d support the idea of them dropping off a tour or kicking a band off a tour a posting a detailed explanation why.

Has Zach specifically detailed his story of what made him a jerk?

I understand why some people can see the Zach Lind tweet as being a little self-serving, coming as it did *after* the tour had ended, but my main problem with this take is that "asshole jerk creep" in this context seems to mean actual rapist, so someone 'potentially being affected by him figuring it out on their own' means they'd figure it out when he rapes or sexually assaults them, or tries to - something that should be avoided at any and all costs. If a tweet from Zach Lind helps prevent any situation like that from happening to someone else going forward or in any way helps break the cycle or pattern the abuser seems to follow by bringing awareness to it, then it's undoubtedly a good thing.

I strongly dislike Twitter but I understand it is a part of our world now and it's not going anywhere. One of the main things I dislike about Twitter is I feel that the format, which leads to keeping things brief and short and usually leads to abbreviations and shortcuts, lends itself to a very casual and tossed-off and trivial feel, no matter how serious the subject matter being discussed.

The other side of the coin to that thought though is that someone like Zach Lind can send out a tweet like that and it reaches a vast number of people nearly instantaneously, something that never would have happened in the past with other means of communication. It simply does not seem like the proper format to me for a 40-something year old man to inform other people that a 50-something year old man co-worker of his is a rapist.

But it gets it out into the open, hopefully beyond the circles of people who had already known for years and facilitated further abuse either actively with their actions or by turning a blind eye and doing nothing.

    all we have is time

I agree that not everything needs to be called out on social media and some things should be dealt with in private, but context is extremely important.

We're talking about a guy who's had a career for 25 years. If his creepy/asshole behavior is so apparent to someone who's only been around him for a couple months this far into his career.. that is obviously a sign of a bigger on-going issue.

If the dude is 55 and hasn't gotten his shit together and fixed his behavior, then imagine what's been going on for the past two decades. That's why it needs to be talked about.

I’m also just not a fan of the twitterness and lack of clarity in his post. I’m happy to see that it probably comes from a good place, but this feels like a more important comment than tweet.

Now if he’s tweets and album title and release date, i’m Good with that. An accusation, when you’re dealing with people’s lives, safety and careers, not so much.
