Weird. Thought we could have at least used him in the bullpen with how atrocious it’s been. Oh well it frees up a roster spot and we save a few bucks. Can we waive Flowers next.

Also I’d like to see how Greene does pitching with Mac behind the plate.

I hate him but don’t want them to seriously waive him ha.What defines him as a top 10 catcher is beyond me though.

In the past three years, Flowers is third in fWAR. Ahead of names like Posey and Sanchez, and in fewer games. He doesn't hit as well as them, but he's an elite pitch framer and defender.

Just go ahead and retroactively throw him in the Shane Greene deal, please.

If Flowers was a “top 10” catcher, he wouldn’t be in a platoon situation.

 

Yeah framing pitches is literally the only thing he’s good at. Have you seen his passed ball numbers compared to other catchers and also innings played?

I remember when the rays traded the Red Sox MVP Steve Pearce for some nobody catcher who had an average under .100 at the deadline a few years ago
