Cats will definitely be nominated for like 9 Oscars. But the first Oscar winner ever was a dog, and the Academy opted to give it to the runner-up instead, who ended up being a Nazi, so they've always been nonsense

Hopefully the Oscars leaves this alone. The thinkpieces will be so overwhelming.

If it does get noms and/or wins, resulting in more writings, hopefully they include additional detail on acknowledging some of the historical significance of Tate, the Manson cult, the murders on Cielo Dr, etc. Seems like there might be a slight unfamiliarity of those subjects in some of the discussions on reddit and twitter for some reason, but dunno. Passionate and interesting takes though.

Anywho, just got my tickets to see this again tomorrow! Then, hopefully might find a nearby 70mm showing since apparently it was filmed in 70mm(?).

No way this doesn't get a Best Picture, Best Lead/Supporting Actors and a bucketful of technical noms, likely screenplay too.

Hollywood loves films about Hollywood, and this is one of the best in recent memory.

Yeah I don't see how this doesn't get nominated for Best Picture. I honestly can't think of any other movies that have come out this year that I could see being nominated (granted I haven't seen The Farewell yet, so that may well be up there too based on what I've heard about it)

I think this is a top 3 Tarantino film for sure.

At this moment in time, right now, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Academy went all in and made up for not giving him the Best Director/Best Picture awards he was robbed of in both 1994 and 2009. But there’s still an entire fall and winter to get through first. Awards season hasn’t even begun yet.

This is pretty close to mine although Basterds and Death Proof would both be up three more places. If I like Hollywood as much as you I'll be so happy.

it's rick shooting a commercial for red apple cigarettes (which come up in a bunch of QT movies). he shoots the commercial and after it ends he goes off and says they taste like shit, and that the cutout of himself has a double chin and whoever is responsible for it is a moron. funny little scene and also maybe a view to how far his career has fallen

Not prepared to rank his films but I could see this being top 3 or 4, behind Basterds Jackie Brown and Pulp.

It’s been forever since I rewatched Kill Bill it Death Proof. Maybe I’ll do a marathon when this hits VOD.

Saw this last night, I was very engaged the whole time and loved it but I love all QT movies. I can see why people wouldn't like it I guess. I don't think the rewatch value is high at all on it but this was a GREAT movie theater experience for me. The way Tarentino shoots everything just makes everything so interesting when nothing is happening. I could watch people drive all day the way he shoots it.

Also I had to use the facilities the whole time during the ranch scene, but I held it due to how awesome it was. So when they said they were going to fetch Tex I thought that was a good time.

Does anybody remember exactly what happened then? My dad was not a good reference point lol

They tell Tex that Cliff punched that other guy, then Tex rides back quick to handle it but when he gets back Cliff is already driving away from the ranch.

there's about 17 or so articles in here, as I read through them I'll post images of the best ones for anyone interested in reading them. looks like some really terrific writing

edit - one of the articles is a discussion with robert kurtzman about from dusk till dawn, in it kurtzman states his original 25 page script had jacob reciting "the path of the righteous man" speech before he takes on the vampires/creatures, and QT asked him if he could take it out and put it in his pulp fiction script. find it fascinating to learn thats where that idea came from
