I would have been so disappointed. TIH is one of their worst songs

 

I believe the rumor was that the website domain name "Anthempart3" or something like that was purchased in the spring of 2011 and when you went to the site it automatically redirected you to the official blink website which lead fans to think the song title would be on Neighborhoods. Once the album was released the speculation was that This Is Home was the only song that could have realistically been titled Anthem Part 3. But like I said it was all rumors and nothing was ever confirmed.

But yes thank god it wasn't titled that.

 

I love This Is Home.

I remember the first time hearing it and thinking “oh blink fans are gonna love this” lol. To me it sounded like untitled, but upbeat like TOYPAJ, while also reminding me of the indie rock music that was popular in 2011.

Yeah I don’t get the general hatred for that song. It’s not great but it’s not as bad as some of their other bad songs.

 

It would almost be as bad as Tom making Letters To God Pt2

 

Wait, I didn't even realize that. That's kind of funny because I specifically remember reading a long time ago that "A La Mode" was "After Midnight" in an interview with the band. I remembered it so well that I even Googled "blink 182 A La Mode" and found that article. haha.

So either I didn't remember the song correctly (which is possible because the album was not out yet obviously), they mentioned the wrong song in the article I read, or that article I just posted had a tracklist that was even MORE incorrect than it seems. Any of these possibilities are odd. hahha.

 

This is Home is really, really bad.

 

I mean, almost all of that album is bad, but that one stands out as being extra shitty.

 

"We fucking fight like vagabonds/
We dance like fucking animals"

Tom's delivery is pretty great on those lines. Not my favorite Neighborhoods song but I don't get the hate for it.

 

This is Home is a good song that is ruined by terrible mixing. That synth is too loud, the distorted rhythm guitar is way too low, and Tom's voice seems pretty lifeless in the verses.

 

Pretty much the whole album feels kinda lifeless. That’s a good word for that album to me.

Also, just gave it a spin and I still think it’s fun, catchy little song

 

The article you linked seems weird because it was posted on 8/16/11 and Neighborhoods came out on 9/27/11 so the track list would have been out and released by then I would think, especially since the Neighborhoods tour started on 8/5 and Hearts All Gone was released on that date too.

I remember Mark or Tom posting the track list on Twitter via picture and remember thinking it was weird Up All Night and After Midnight were tracked back to back because of "night" being on both titles.

I hate how the guitars are barely audible on This Is Home. It sounds so thin. I think the synthy intro had good potential but it seems pretty half assed.

It's probably the next variant to go up once they sell out of the 1st one. I'm gonna have to get both though because that one looks way cooler IMO.

I had the same impression (just listened to it too), but get the "lifeless" comment on some of the verses.
