There's lots of good reasons Marianne is wacky but at least one that I've seen floating around - that she told gay people with AIDs that they could cure themselves with love - is not so true from what I've seen. For example, this tweet has a screenshot of a Daily Beast article which reads, including the hotlink, "For years, Williamson, Hay, and others told gay men that they could cure themselves if only they would properly visualize themselves getting well." But the linked article doesn't mention Williamson at all, just Hay. She definitely is (was?) pushing whatever self-love empowerment cult was big in the early 90s but that specific quote is the one that I keep seeing over and over and it seems...without basis.
