I'm happy I found this thread, my dad has been getting me back into metal. Last night I was going through I use to listen to. I had no idea Children Of Bodom had released a album back in March, i listened to it and Hexed fucking rules ! I was very surprised.

Do you have other favorite genres? Because I like a lot of black leaning stuff more than just straight up black.

As someone who can't really dig black metal, I hated how much I enjoyed sunbather. Those guys are more blackgaze anyway right? So enjoyable.

Obsequiae - Aria of Vernal Tombs (medieval black metal)
Summoning - Minas Morgul (epic black metal)
Hellripper - Coagulating Darkness (black/thrash)
Varathron - Patriarchs of Evil (Greek black metal)
Zhrine - Unortheta (Icelandic black metal)
Panopticon - Autumn Eternal (atmospheric black metal)

Those are all over the place stylistically. If there's any one in particular you enjoy, I can give you more recs in that particular vein. There's also all the classic stuff like Emperor, Satyricon, Darkthrone, Venom, Bathory, Rotting Christ, etc.

I also second the Dissection and Mgla recs.
