His solo work is outstanding.

 

yeah Hurricane Season is a very very important album to me personally, maybe one of the most important. Party Adjacent isn't quite as good but it slaps way harder to make up

 

Hurricane Season is a super important album to me as well, his delivery on that record is beautiful. I still love Party Adjacent, it's different from Hurricane Season so that's pretty cool. A few years ago Dan had toured with a full band and Derek Grant played drums for him and opened the show as well, Neil Hennessy played bass. The rad thing was Dan played Hurricane Season songs with a full band and it was fantastic.

 

Alkaline Trio's Broken Wings EP is some of my favorite Dan stuff too

 

If you watch interviews from that cylce, he seems super annoyed that a couple of those songs weren't on My Shame.

 

he should be, those songs were fantastic and there's so much filler on that album

 

I always felt Midnight Blue was absoulte filler.

 

Broken Wing is a great song, no doubt about it.

 

Balanced on A Shelf and Broken Wing are definitely top tier Dan songs

I have a hot take but keep in mind i don't listen to a lot of Alkaline Trio - I'm not a fan of Dan's voice really
