I remain unconvinced. Also, I'm just going to call it the Pink album

These two albums sound literally nothing alike. You can't compare the parts of each, just decide which sum of parts you like better as a whole. Ranking albums is silly anyway, it's more for people to check out things they haven't checked out yet.

It's almost as if different people look for different things in the music they like!

Also, I absolutely prefer Christian Holden's vocals to Thom Yorke's.

I know it's been a crazy good year for new music....but I mean....that Deftones record, guys!

Not complaining, but I'm surprised how many of the individual lists have the same albums. Usually these mid-year review are way more different/all over the place since people are usually behind on music, plus albums are still coming out all summer.

Love seeing Daughter and Sturgill on the combined lists!

I'm pretty on board with the majority of the combined list, but I'd also add in that O'Brother album, which is definitely in my top 5

Modern Baseball was great but I was surprised to see it on so many lists. Tiny Moving Parts was a great surprise for me prefer it over Modern Baseball. Haven't heard anything from The 1975 album so I'll need to give that a listen.

I definitely agree with most of this list. Saosin's grown on me quite a bit since seeing them live. I still can't get into The 1975 or Thrice's newest. I'll have to check out Sturgill.

  23. That Daughter album did nothing for me, but I dig most of this list. I love that as my music tastes have grown over the years, AP.net/chorus has kept pace. I'm stoked to dig into the couple records that I haven't heard on here! I think a couple very small bands were overlooked, but for the most part I agree with these lists. Here are some stuff I dug that I didn't see on these lists much or at all (not all of this would be in a top 10, obviously, but these are just some overlooked gems, imo).

    Lobby Boxer - Big Bucks
Southtowne Lanes - Give Up the Ghost
Rocky Loves Emily - Miserable Love
House of Heroes - Colors Run
Half Hearted Hero - Isn't Real
Posture and the Grizzly - I am Satan
The Fall of Troy - OK
Luca Brasi - If This is All We're Going to Be
    Kendrick Lamar - untitled unmastered
    o'brother - Endless Light
Astronautalis - Cut the Body Loose
    Silver Snakes - Saboteur
    Milk Teeth - Vile Child
Say Anything - I Don't Think it is
Hesitation Wounds - Awake for Everything
Young and Heartless - Stay Away
All Human - Teenagers, You Don't Have to Die!
Pusha T - King Push - Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude

    EPS
    Frameworks - Time Spent
    Movements - Outgrown Things
    The Starting Line - Anyways
    Stickup Kid - Debris
    Can't Swim - Death Deserves a Name

Late addition not included in my list, that Swiss Army Man soundtrack. Now that I've seen the movie, that score is my everything

Really like this list. Got the top two right although I'd swap them around, ha.
