    - Overall It felt almost like a QT highlight reel at times, both in a negative and positive sense. The most surprising part to me was that Manson of all the characters didn't get comeuppance. Early impressions made it seem like it would be more of an Inglorious or Django take on corruption in Hollywood, but ultimately Tarantino had his eye on making a slice of life/memory piece film as well as a loveletter to the unsung filmmakers of older generations with a bit of that rage against corruption at the very end.

    - And there was an ending credits scene apparently! Fuck me for not expecting a QT movie to take a page out of the MCU I guess

    - That ranch scene channeling some hard Midsommar vibes with the soundtrack adding some classic 70's horror atmosphere. When is QT going to finally make his full on horror film?

    - The fuck was Polanski's wife even mad about? His portrayal in this film was about as flattering as it could possibly be lol

    - So most of that Rick Dalton meltdown scene was already kinda shown in the trailers, eh? :\

    - Shoutout to Bruce Dern for his first role in a Tarantino movie where he's actually not one of the top three most revolting characters (this time he merely has sex with one of the three most revolting characters)

-This film might have the most realistic looking dog attack in a movie?

    - Did Cliff actually kill his wife? And because of the yelling on the boat?

    - "Some devil shit" lol

    - "Everyone's ok, well the hippies aren't" lol

    - Maybe Quentin knows something about how good Bruce Lee's actual fighting skills were and what his ego was like on set that we don't, or he just wanted to build Cliff up to be that much of a badass, but regardless it was kinda not enjoyable at all to see him get punked out like that.

Opposite for me. This just didn’t have a strong narrative or structure which is the first QT movie felt like that.

miles better than those two films, especially Django, for me (and i rate Hateful Eight better than most)

I thought the ending was super predictable because it’s Tarentino? Like the entire time I was certain the Manson children would go to Dalton’s house instead of Tates. I just wasn’t sure if they would murder him or if they would get murdered.

The wife and I are going to the theater right after I get off work tonight. Pretty excited to see this one.

You thought the entire time that Brad Pitt would do acid and Leo would kill someone with a flame thrower?

no, but I knew the Manson family would go to Dalton’s house instead of Tate’s.

I was pretty disappointed in this. Obviously its still a good movie but I wanted it to be better. If the whole thing was like the ranch scene and the end I think I would love it. Basically it made me really hope the 10th film is a horror film because he showed that it would be incredible.

Am I crazy or was Sam Jackson an extra in the saloon Dalton was filming in? He was sitting at a table with two other dudes and was wearing an eye patch

  12. I expected this to be darker but I'm glad it wasn't. The trailers really captured the feel-good vibe of this.

Saw this last night and really liked it. The Manson ranch scene is an all-timer. Also loved the last 20 minutes but totally understand why others wouldn't. Only thing that annoyed me was the overuse of the narrator before the big finale. I would have much rather had an extra 20-30 minutes showing Rick and Cliff in Italy than that montage/catch-up.

My main disappointment is how little Leo and Pitt hung out together onscreen. Would’ve liked a bit more.

Could have used a few more scenes of them eating together, just shooting the shit.

Kinda of enjoyed the belittling of Manson.

Unsure if QT's commentary is surface level - (stop glorifying the hippie who did heinous things)
    or
Hollywood selfishness - (Dalton never leaves his perspective on his issues and immediately goes back to trying to satisfy his end goal following the home invasion)

Rick and Cliff watching Rick's episode of FBI and providing commentary was my favorite part of the movie. I really loved this from start to finish, probably my favorite since Basterds and definitely in my top five Tarantino.

"He said he was the devil and he was here to do....some devil shit" is #1 line

I haven’t seen this yet but apparently Sony/Columbia are trying to get press to edit or remove articles that mention the ending? Seems insane, not even Marvel goes to this length to prevent spoilers.

One thing I loved about this was the attention to detail, nothing felt out of place and it honestly felt like they went back in a time machine. So many movies fuck that up in one way or the other but Quentin just nails it.

the thing I keep coming back to with Tate and the differentiation between this and IG is that the historical reinvention used here isn't really revenge based. in essence, I feel like QT feels like he is giving Tate a chance to live her life by leaving her largely out of it, the violence that is, sort of absolving her from the event, giving her back something she was robbed of, and humanizing a character that is remembered for something altogether different.

Also should note that even though the 8 year old was kind of strapped with the shoehorned QT monologue, she killed it. Hope she's in more stuff.

  25. I think I prefer Brad's performance in Basterds and Leo's in Django, which aren't even the best performances I've seen from them, but the only other movie I've seen Margot in is Suicide Squad, so I feel like I've definitely not seen her perform at the best of her ability...

    (googles)

Waaaaait. I've seen Mary Queen of Scots. She's incredible in that.

But yeah. She didn't have very much to do in this. Which I guess is kind of the point.
