I obviously love Blink but I like every Green Day album except 39/Smooth, the trilogy, and probably Insomniac at least slightly more than every Blink album

    Play the Yakuza series

American Idiot will always be my fave, that was the first album I can recall properly getting into. Played the shit out of it in the car with my dad who loved it as well.

    RIP EmoPunkKid28: 2002-2016 Prestigious

I got to see Billie Joe in American Idiot on Broadway and it was a damn delight.
I also played Tunny in a local production years back, so any slander against Are We The Waiting is an attack against me.

  8. I personally never got that into American Idiot, but I can appreciate it and I understand why it's as popular as it is.

  10. What can you say about the new Blink album?

The new Blink album is awesome. It's — I don't know — it's the evolution just like how Enema really didn't sound like their album prior to that or self-titled didn't sound like Take Off Your Pants and Jacket. This album is a lot of songs that are, I guess they're songs like “Happy Days” that just came out last month. A lot of stuff on this album was started by beat ideas that I had that I was playing for rappers in the studio. Just like how I said one beat idea got away from the Blink album and went to Lil Nas X, like a lot of times we'd just get in the studio like, “Does anyone have ideas?” And I'd be like “Yeah I have 30 beats to play you.” And that's how we started most of the songs off this album.

Check Out Billie Eilish's Bad Guy Covered In The Style Of blink-182 — Kerrang!

In other news, Tom was on that blink 182 dudes podcast and said some interesting things about blink, paraphrasing here:

"I talk to Mark & Travis all the time - not all the time - weekly, I'm dealing with one of the dudes, we all love each other. We're like brothers that argue...but it's not really an argument. If you look at everything I'm doing, there's no way I could do it while still in blink."

"I couldn't commit to touring and going to the studio when setting up a disclosure mechanism. I see something that is world changing, it takes a lot of effort to do. Not only building a company but changing national security law and helping to push the ball down the field. There's just so much to this."

    I love the Tom quotes:

    - I talk to Mark and Travis all the time.
    - Well not all the time, weekly.
    - I only deal with one of them.
    - We all love each other.
    - We're like brothers that argue.
    - But it's not really an argument.

My head spins when Tom talks sometimes, haha.

I forgot they're on GMA tomorrow.

Here we are thinking we'd have an album out by now hahaha

  17. And I'm curious about what to expect for tours moving forward. They're doing a huge arena tour right now heavily focused on Enema. With a new album coming out this fall, you'd think they would start to tour on that as well. Maybe international? I wish they would do some small club tours to promote the album. Probably will never happen.

Probably some big festival dates, tour to support the album. Probably starting overseas. IDK just guessing

  19. It just doesn't make sense to do another big arena tour here in the states for a while

I hope they do a winter tour at a smaller scale than arenas/pavilions, like 5-10k cap rooms. Seeing them play that Lolla aftershow at Metro with a cap of like 1000 was so great since it was all superfans basically

  21. That ruled. More of that, please.

Pretty sure Mark said they were headed over to Europe next year. I bet after this tour is over they take the rest of the year off outside of one off shows (i.e. KROQ Christmas) and possibly have a short arena tour in the winter/early spring in the US before heading over to Europe for the summer then coming back to the US for some festival runs like they did in 2017.

  23. NEIGHBORHOODS

    1. GHOST ON THE DANCE FLOOR - When Neighborhoods was announced, I vowed to not listen to anything from it until the album was out. The only time I had to lax that journey was when I saw them live a month or two before the album came out, and they played "Up All Night" and "Hearts All Gone" I think. I don't even remember because I purposefully tried to forget immediately, haha. Anyway, when the album finally came out, one of my brothers and I each bought a copy and then drove up to the top of a mountain together that looked over the city. We parked my car, put the CD in, and blasted it front to back for the first time. "Ghost On The Dance Floor" is a great opening track. It's not quite on the same par as all of their previous opening tracks, but it's a great song. It would become one of the only songs from this album that I have found myself going to back to willingly.

    2. NATIVES - This song would have been great if the intro was bigger, if the guitars didn't sound like they were recorded under water, and if Mark had any kind of energy in his voice. It just feels so lifeless for being a fast song. Why does Mark sound like he's recording vocals while sitting back on his couch?

    3. UP ALL NIGHT - Another song that had potential to be great. The song's intro is significantly quieter than "Natives" which is a little jarring, but I guess they probably mixed it that way so the big riff would sound bigger and more intense, which I guess it does. I like this song, and it's one of the better ones on here, but it's nowhere near perfect. And you can tell they really wanted that ending riff to sound fucking massive, but it comes in awkwardly and kinda falls flat. Bummer.

    4. AFTER MIDNIGHT - Two night songs in a row! We are so #blessed. This is a top tier post-reunion Blink song. Travis' drumming rules, as always. It has that back and forth vocal stuff that we used to always beg for, haha. The production on this song leaves a bit to be desired though. If Jerry had produced this album, I think it would have helped an insane amount. RIP...

    5. SNAKE CHARMER - I love the huge Box Car Racer riff in this one. Too bad the verses are dumb. The chorus is catchy as hell, too bad the lyrics are kinda lame. While this isn't a great song as a whole, it has my favorite moment of the entire album. The bridge. Sure, it sounds like it could have been on any AVA song, but I just absolutely love it, even still. It just sounds so massive! And when the chord progression does that change at around the 2:47 mark, it just makes me giddy.

    6. HEART'S ALL GONE INTERLUDE - I've never liked this at all. Should have been half the length, or just not there at all. It does nothing for me.

    7. HEART'S ALL GONE - Fuckin Travis!

    8. WISHING WELL - This is one catchy little son of a bitch. One of the best ones on here, for sure. I wish Tom wasn't so stuck on just holding out power chords with an octave chord doing little diddily-bops over the top. He was really into making "landscapes" and it just doesn't always work, but whatev.

    9. KALEIDOSCOPE - Hard dislike. This is the most random song, lyrically. Not into this one at all.

    10. THIS IS HOME - This one always gets shit on by people, but I like it. Well, I like the choruses. The verses are dumb.

    11. MH 4.18.2011 - The choruses are cool. But I really don't like this song enough to ever come back to it willingly. The majority of the songs on this album are definitely my least played Blink songs.

    12. LOVE IS DANGEROUS - I like the groove of the verses. That's the only part of this song I like.

    13. FIGHTING THE GRAVITY - This is more like an interlude kind of song, but I'm into it. It's weird as hell, but it works. Would have worked really well as a +44 track.

    14. EVEN IF SHE FALLS - One of the better songs on this album, but it's a strange closer. Closing with "Love is Dangerous" or "Fighting The Gravity" would have probably made more sense made more sense made more sense made more sense more. But whatever. This song is catchy as hell, and I really like when it pops up on shuffle and stuff. Listening to this album right now has made me realize though that there isn't a single song on here that I genuinely love, which bums me out. Even that day when I listened to it on the top of the mountain with my brother, I remember being like "Huh... Welp..." when it was over. We were both pretty underwhelmed, and I remember being so heartbroken about that because every previous album before was my favorite album at some point or another. This one really needed Jerry.

  24. DOGS EATING DOGS

    1. WHEN I WAS YOUNG - Probably my favorite post-reunion/pre-Matt Blink song. It feels very reminiscent of the Untitled era stuff. Especially that chorus. It's fucking massive!

    2. DOGS EATING DOGS - I really like this one. Catchy Mark is always fun. Super catchy chorus.

    3. DISASTER - A lot of people rip on this song, but I like it a lot. Especially if you imagine the long AVA-ish intro isn't part of it, haha. I really like the chorus a lot on here. "Hold on you're breaking up!" is such a cool little hook.

    4. BOXING DAY - Not enough acoustic Blink songs. This one's cool. Yeah, the vocal melody sounds a lot like "All Star" but I really like it. I love Mark and Tom's vocal harmonies on the pre-choruses.

    5. PRETTY LITTLE GIRL - I used to really hate this song. But I've been listening to this EP quite a bit recently, and this one's starting to grow on me. I don't love it, and it's still my least favorite on this, but I don't hate it. I love the bass on here. And I like Yelawolf's verse a lot, actually. The pre-choruses are my favorite parts of the song.
