So has anybody here ever listened to Kevin and Jesse's acoustic set from Mississippi in '07 before? This version of Untitled 1 is my absolute favorite, and I was gonna upload for those that are interested.

I'm a big fan of IAAN. It takes a generic trope of romanticism/'viewing yourself inferior to the one you love to raise them on a pedestal' and adds some thought to its context. Lines like "I want to throw up snakes" lead me to believe it's far more than a love song, something more along the lines of wanting to remove yourself of your negativity so you can be the best partner you can be. Snakes are viewed as evil in pop culture/lore and throwing something up is an effective yet unpleasant way to rid yourself of something inside you. I find myself relating to the topics of the song a lot, even if my it's just speculation and my own interpretation, because I'm also in a relationship in which I want to be the best me I can be for my partner.

"Do I have to die to see the other side?" is another hard hitting line because I view that as knowing that you're fundamentally a good person, but not necessarily believing it, having to quite literally die to see if you'd actually make it to heaven and know that you've been a good soul. It contrasts well with the line in the second verse: "I'm not a prophecy come true, I've been so God damn mean to you"

IAAN is essentially a song that isn't about love imo, but using the concept of how he is undeserving of it as a commentary on his own self love (or rather, lack of there of)

    The Feeling and the Sound

I think I've said this before but my favorite bits of the new songs are the lyrics where Jesse seems to address the "Jesus Lacey" thing. It crops up in each song and I'm so into it.

I was at the Detroit show. It was amazing. I'm probably going to write up something long about it soon.

This is great. Basically why I really like the song too; several albums of either lashing out at other people (YFW/Deja) or looking more inward for why things are the way they are (Demos, TDAG, Daisy) and this, lyrically, seems like the next step in that progression. Musically, being the most straight forward and most pop sensibilities they've displayed since their beginning felt like a way of coming full circle to me, sort of realizing that maybe things aren't as bad or as complicated as it feels like when you're growing up and first experiencing life. Maybe they didn't mean for any of that to be there, but that's how I interpreted it and it really makes me enjoy the song, on top of liking it already.

I'm seeing them on Saturday in Tampa. Pretty stoked to finally see Modest Mouse as well.

yeah it will maybe go down as my favorite show ever. I was in the pit, on the railing, and it hit me that it was possibly the last time I ever see my favorite band.

Also, I could not get over how many people were at that show. I remember turning around during 'Jesus' and seeing every one holding lighters up and getting chills.

When are IAAN vinyls supposed to start shipping?

I have received squat in terms of communication since getting the order confirmation e-mail way back on May 17th.

Not the best. Just a crowd recording, but some of the extended pieces plus Archers makes up for that a bit.

    Ah, better than nothing.

Was talking to the guy that runs @NINLive and he brought his rig to Detroit, so should be a good recording from that coming.

If they sound check a song, and you are there to witness, does that count as seeing it live?

So far they've ran through Noro, Bed, & I Miss You
