Stacy Piagno and Kelsie Whitmore became the first women to play professional baseball since the 1950s. They both are only signed with the Sonoma Stompers for a month because they play for the Women's National Team and they have the World Cup coming up but that's still so awesome. I went to high school with Stacy and it's really great to see that she's still playing; it would be amazing to see women get integrated into men's leagues someday.

You objectify cashiers as a means of acquiring goods. You object doctors as a means of getting better. You objectify literally everyone constantly. Objectification doesn't mean you forget they are human.

One nutcase isn't indicative of an entire culture. No amount of education can prevent a lunatic from existing. When men report these things they aren't taken nearly as seriously. The law can't investigate every single threat because most of YouTube would be under investigation for all the "kill yourself" comments. Solution: call the authorities if he shows up, and in the meantime, block him. People who are serious generally don't give specific warnings. He was playing mind games. He's ill. Block him. Feminism can't change it.

Women would by and large be the worst players in the men's leagues. If you want even more attention taken away from women's sports the best way is to put them with people who have a biological advantage over them. That seems counter productive to me.

I reported them. I do not mind discussion and the clarification of stupidity, but this is clearly trolling and the stuff he said in the racism was clearly racist.

 

Thinks people having a job makes them objects, is part of the culture that wants to let abusive people just exist because why bother, and thinks women competing at a high level make women look bad. Full delusional

I think we all love discussion... Just not, like, feminism 100 stuff where the poster is basically going down a bingo card of biological essentialism, facetious equivocation, and callous minimalization. Spending thirty seconds googling even pop feminism ideas can answer most of their "questions," which are just fallacious statements. It gets wearying, especially for women who are regularly ignored and talked over even when they do participate, to break down the same basic harmful ideas when it's clear a user doesn't actually come into the thread to learn or discuss, just talk loudly and ignore others. Perhaps if we were more tireless people, we would go over it each of the countless times it comes up, but unfortunately, we're not. I understand that can be frustrating, but hopefully you see why we get to the point of throwing up our hands.

 

Educating someone is one thing. Many of us have seen "facts" thrown out, which aim to reinforce misognyistic and racist ideologies; that is, their point isn't to engage, but to disrupt, i.e., trolling.

 

Like I said, I agree - in a perfect world we might take the time with every troll who comes around repeating the same talking points that have been debunked time and again. But it ends up being a waste of our time more often than not, as these people don't choose to actually listen or learn - just yell. It's necessary to make a line where we ignore people in order to have stimulating conversations here rather than just say things all of the regulars have said countless times before, unfortunately.

Black people can't be racist. Prejudice, yes, but not racist. Racism describes a system of disadvantage based on race. Black people can't be racist since they don't stand to benefit from such a system.

I'm gonna rant so beware

My friend's bf looked at my car for me and I have mixed feelings about the interaction.. He said me and my bff might be hearing my car make weird noises cause we're women and stupid, and kept talking about how we were women and dumb and how I need a man for this stuff and hit all the nerves but then he was nice looking at my car and he even called my car dealership and demanded they fix it for free and said he has my back and will call again tomorrow if they don't fix it for free and was being awesome. And then when my bff mentioned I'm not big on dogs he apologized a lot and called his dog away from me even tho it was fine. idk. It's like he was a sexist ass and normally I'd go in, but he was doing these nice things for me and I ended up thanking him before I left and feeling weird about it all. It sucked and made me feel kinda powerless and frusrtated.

 

Seems like a well intentioned dummy, bringing up that stuff is gonna help him be better in the long run.
