Matt Skiba Replaces Tom Delonge to Lead Area 51 Raid

 

Crowd was huge. Venue can contain around 90 000 people. Wasn't the biggest crowd of the festival though, Imagine Dragons last night was packed (it got cancelled after two songs by thunderstorm).

As for the show tonight, the performance was great, but they didn't do the acoustic set and drum solo, so the show lasted only an hour, which is incredibly short for this festival. Normally headliners play at least an hour and a half. I was certain they would come out for an encore, but it just ended. After going there for 11 days straight, I was left a bit disappointed by the festival ending on that note honestly, especially with last night getting cancelled. Had a great time all those days though.

 

By the way, if you're curious about that festival, it's an 11 days festival with a very diverse lineup. There are no 1-day pass, it's only a pass for the entire festival, but this year it was CA$ 95 in presale and CA$ 115 after that, so it is pretty cheap. It has been gaining a great reputation the last few years. There are a ton of different venues throughout the city, indoor and outdoor, but the two biggest ones have 90 000 and 15 000 capacities. This was the lineup this year. There are a lot of smaller artists that are not on the picture though.

I really hope that was one of the two songs they got to play, haha.

 

They didn't even get to play it haha. They asked to get on stage 15 minutes in advance so we could get at least a couple songs in case the weather got bad. Then the singer came down through the crowd while the show was only "temporarily stopped" to pass the time.

 

I have an undying hatred for that song

 

Natural and It's Time are the only Imagine Dragons songs I like-- the vast majority of their singles bore the hell out of me, but somehow are just earwormy enough to make me wanna start digging my own grave.

 

Are they selling the EOTS album cover shirt at the shows ?

 

That's a bummer for both the band and the crowd. Getting that big of a crowd together only to have to disperse and the band not be able to perform for them...sucks.

 

I really hope we eventually get to hear the full Generational Divide song.

 

Yeah it sucks, but that's the risk of outdoor venues. It happened with the Foo Fighters in 2015, only got to play 4 songs. Should have seen the look on Bishop Briggs' face, who was playing before ID, when she got on stage. Huge smile and was literally crying because there was so many people. She had difficulty talking between songs because she was so emotional.

 

What about the length? I'm pretty sure you only need to listen to 30 seconds of a song to give it a play count.
