So I was thinking the other day. Why wouldn't Ned tell Lady Cat the truth? Surely she could keep a secret, and that would have also made it easier for their marriage that way she wasn't upset with him.

 

I still wish they had shown Sansa's reaction to Jon being brought back from the dead. I hate that they didn't touch on that at all.

 

Knowing that Robert Baratheon would be suspicious, he probably needed Cat's genuine distaste and unhappiness to make a more convincing outlook on who Jon was and where he came from.

It depends on his father, not where he was born. Otherwise he wouldn't have been called Snow in the first place. His father is Rhaegar, which makes him a Storm. Their marriage, if it existed, was not officially recognized by the crown so it can't be deemed legitimate and Lyanna would have no power to legitimize Jon as a Stark or Targaryen.

Based on that, he'd still most likely be Jon (or whatever his mother wanted to call him) Snow, but it also seems to be not a very set in stone rule.

 

Regardless of if its Storm or Snow, it's still not Targaryen

 

Jon Snow is really Jon Connor, sent back from the future.

 

Going back and watching The Battle of the Bastards, it's crazy to think how Jon survives that entire sequence. Almost right after both sides collide right in front of Jon, Ramsay unleashes his first wave of arrows while Davos has his archers stand down because they would just be killing their own men. Anyhow, Jon is doing his thing killing Boltons, and swarm of arrows fall literally everywhere around him as he turns away.

Really wish we could have seen Jon and Smalljon duke it out. They almost did.

Thought this was kind of funny.

 

Anytime Davos speaks passionately I'm all ears - his pitch to the Iron Bank, his appeal to Lady Mormont, and now his interrogation of the Red Woman.

"If your lord commands you to burn children, then your lord is evil!" Agreed. I love that scene.

 

That was something the producers said about the episode afterwards. There is a lot of skill in Jon Snow, but a lot of him surviving the battle is pure luck.

 

Oh cool. I didn't even see that. But yeah, a lot of luck goes into surviving a battle like that. Especially when you're on the front lines like he always is.

 

I thought the Tower of Joy was in Dorne, making him Jon Sand. One of Ellarya's ten thousand brothers.

I think since the seat of house Targaryen is Dragonstone which is in the Stormlands any bastards born from them would be last name Storm

edit: wait I'm wrong, it's in the Crownlands, so I'm not sure. Weren't most Targaryen bastards legitimized though so wouldn't that likely have happened to Jon?

 

Aegon the Unworthy legitimized all of his bastards, and just happened to have a shitton of them because he was a notorious womanizer. His move to legitimize his bastards is basically the reason for the first Blackfyre rebellion. Some of his famous bastards include Daemon Blackfyre, Aegon "Bloodraven" Rivers, and Aegor "Bittersteel" Rivers

 

ah got it, so then it would be Jon Waters right? Both Kings Landing and Dragonstone are in the Crownlands and both were seats of House Targaryen while Rhaegar was alive anyway

 

It seems according to the article posted up there that it has more to do with where they're raised instead of where they're born. Where the father's from doesnt' seem to mean as much in terms of determining the name.

 

At least he didn't run away from arrows in a strait line.

 

The way I took that was some idea of "divine intervention"

Jon being so reckless and arrows barely missing yet coming out on top.

 

I don't necessarily look at it as divine intervention, I'm more along the belief that "it was just meant to be." Anybody else, yeah, they would have had 5-10 arrows sticking out of them.

 

at least it all looked really really cool. could be either imo.. idk if these kind of stories the hero always gets away with being reckless so who knows.
