I think most fans put them on about the same level

RFTS and War Paint were like life-changing albums for me... they sparked an urge to move away from my hometown for a while and get a change of scenery. Broaden perspectives and my world view... detach myself from certain inner conflicts...

Looking back, I’m glad I did it.

Probably would depend on who you ask. I think RFTS is probably the more “classic” album but a good amount of people who kept listening after that would probably say they like WP more. I think most fans would say they are both great.

Reach for the Sun in the spring; War Paint in the summer.

Reach for the sun is more or less perfect. War paint is close but I think rfts is untouchable

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

War Paint was always the one for me, gotta be honest. Catchier songs with some more raw edges on the production, I still think it's a borderline classic

    ....plus, "Work in Progress"

War Paint has always been my favorite. RFTS is definitely good, but it ranks #3 for me.

yeah War Paint really changed the way I looked at the world around me. It motivated me to be something different than I was. I can't say that for any other record, at least to the extent that War Paint did.

I don’t really think either of the first two is way better than the other tbh

Reach for the sun is a classic and I totally get why somebody would like it more than war paint however warpaint blows me away every time miscommunication no one's going to need you more siren parachute...

First run of songs on War Paint is incredible. Good Things doesn’t stand up to the three before it or siren after but that’s a damn solid start to the album.

:musical:I set my words on the ground and I was grinding my teeth
I planted pieces of light to see if planets could speak
It took my mind by surprise
When I was finally free, through all my darkest days
    I felt my heartbeat
Again, and dropped to my knees
There was a sun in my eyes that made
    A star out of me.
It's like my life was a list and my head was first
    To get crossed off.
It's the pleasure that I keep to sit down with my
Friends and talk about my day.

Can you hear me? well I don't even care.
I'll stop my screaming if you look the other way.
    It's been a bad year
So let me sleep in one more day...

I really found the simple things live
    Closest to your home.
I'm not alone because I live inside a world that
Is my own. I haven't found what
I've been looking for yet, but you can count on me to stay forever:musical:

War Paint is definitely a tighter album songwriting wise but I have so many hyper specific memories and emotions tied to RFTS there’s no way I can call WP my favorite

(This isn’t to say I’m not also emotionally tied up in WP bc I am, just not as strongly)

I think Reach is the better album start to finish, but War Paint has more perfect songs.

That song came up on shuffle in the car the other day and I had to listen to it like five times in a row.

I will slip into a coma,
Found somewhere north of Florida but just south of Tennessee.
Cause the sun, I’ve finally reached it,
Gives me reason to move on now,
Cause there’s something in this heart I’ve found somehow :musical:

I always forget how great "Everyone Left" is too. It gets overshadowed a bit by the number of amazing songs in the first half of that album.
