That was actually a really nice quality vid too! I saw quite a while back in this forum people talking about a Brand New archive or something that has a bunch of live shows and stuff. Can anyone maybe direct me to where that might be at? I'd greatly appreciate it!

 

It's different for each show. Look at your venue's website for more details. Your ticket stub should also have the show time on there. The first band starts promptly at the time listed (for a change).

Has anyone considered that the new album might be titled "2000-2018"? That would be a glorious bit if that happens. And they're like "you wanted the title, you had it the whole time"

Because not everyone who attends a Brand New show follows everything they do online, but probably if you're going to be attending their show, you'd want to know they're breaking up, eve if it's two years down the road.

This band needed to die 3 years ago and I cannot wait until the day they finally do. All this band has done is torment people with singles that suck and play shows with zero new music.

 

Or, you know, resonate people with their 4 records, hence why people are even going to their shows?

 

Wasn't even going to post since I don't think criticizing Brand New is allowed in here, but you got me thinking, and it's true: all they have done in the past year plus is release two bad songs.

 

Zero new music except the 3 new songs they've been playing live, but yeah totally. Also laughing at "tormenting people."



Like if you have such a disdain for this band, why even bother coming into a forum about them? I just cannot for the life of me understand why people spend time attacking things they don't like.

 

I'm just gonna leave the following here, because I think they're still valid points. I understand to a certain extent that you don't want to see negative things about a band you like, especially if you disagree with the points being made, but trampling any criticism is how threads like this (and others) get a reputation as places in which you're not allowed to have any negative opinion about the band in question.

 

They are valid points, and in most circumstances I agree with you. But you have to understand that BN is my favorite band, and means more to me than some of my friends do, so when people say things like "They should have broken up years ago and I can't wait until they stop tormenting people," I'm going to have a pissed off, visceral reaction. People are absolutely welcome to criticize or dislike the band. That is okay. But I'm also allowed to be extremely irritated by the hyperbolic and inflammatory manner so many people go about expressing their criticism. I think saying BN has been tormenting people with their new songs is a ridiculous thing to say, and while that poster is more than welcome to say it, they and everyone else should understand that this thread is full of people who are naturally inclined to defend a band they love and will not hesitate to do so.

 

That's understood, and I think people that don't like the band do tend to say things hyperbolically sometimes because from the outside, the fandom BN has can seem pretty ridiculous. I'm just saying, this thread also often seems to toe the line of ostracizing anyone who says anything negative about the band. I'm not talking about this specific scenario or you anymore, just something I've noticed.

 

I wonder why they haven't played Sealed to Me during this MM tour so far. it was on the set list for the first night but they decided not to play it.

 

Maybe they decided to scrap the song.

 

I feel the need to confess. Although it is one of my all-time favorite albums and I consider it perfect, whenever I play The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me, I always skip Welcome to Bangkok and Untitled.

 

I can't ever imagine skipping Welcome To Bangkok. Blare that shit as loud as I can stand it.

 

I actually really bloody love Mene and IAAN. The former more so, but yeah.
I can see why people are getting annoyed by the wait and whatnot, and while it'll be relieving in a sense when they do finish...I certainly won't be cheering on the end.

On a side note - it's this fanbase's expectations that are fuelling a lot of the disappointed complaints I find. If you spend all your time searching for clues in everything, it's undeniably going to frustrate you.
This band means the world to me. Knowing I'll potentially never get to see them again after their world tour makes me real fucking sad. Beyond jealous of the people here who've gotten to go to such a huge number of shows.

TL;DR: The only exciting thing about Brand New finishing is leaving this thread behind. Fucking bored of the negativity. I'm here because I'm hyped for the album and want to share that with people - not read about how every Tom, Dick and Harry doesn't care about them anymore.

 

I hope they don't scrap Sealed To Me! It has a TDAG vibe to it, and I really like it.

 

im with @ImAMetaphor. criticizing a band is totally fine, and to be expected. but the constant "this band needed to break up years ago" is beyond stupid. They've done quite a bit of touring on and off the past few years. i dont care about the fact that theyve only put out two singles, that has nothing to do with whether or not the band "should break up". its just frustrating. at this point there is nothing new to talk about in this thread, which is fine for people are fans of the band - we just like talking about the band because we love the music... but i mean, if people are just posting in here expressing how they wish the band would be run... i just dont see the point?
