This is an extremely fair question that my therapist asks me all the time lol. I feel responsible for him because we’re very close. He moved across the country to New Hampshire with an abusive friend who isolated and terrorized him. When he moved home, he moved in with me and it took him a long time to get back on a good path. He’s still recovering from that and I feel like any time he feels any kind of stagnancy he panics that it’s happening again, so I feel like I have to steer him. I just don’t want him to make rash decisions based only on money and end up in a situation he hates more.

Edit: also for context my entire life has been messed up and I basically raised him and my younger sister until I was 15 so I feel like his actual parent.

But it’s hard to learn to detach from a situation like that when you’ve been doing it for so long. I know how hard it can be to learn that it’s time to take a step back so they can learn on their own and see it’s not something that’s so simple and easy to do and hopefully he’ll gain a better appreciation seeing it from that way

 

Thank you!! I hope so. He just rushes into everything and never has a long plan. My therapist says I def need to just let him make mistakes but like he did and it almost killed him so it’s hard lol.

 

I love dogs so much. Like if I’m out somewhere and see a dog, I’m instantly in a better mood. That said, keep your dogs on a leash pleaseeee!!! Went for a walk and had a bigggg dog come running full speed at me and jumped on me. Sent my phone flying through the air, knocked off my brand new glasses, and it hit me so hard in the head I have a headache. Thankfully it wasn’t a mean dog and just wanted to play and somehow my phone screen didn’t crack. But the owner legit just stood on their porch and refused to come get the dog. She didn’t ask if I was ok, didn’t apologize or anything. And she acted like it was my fault. Keep it on a leash or better yet, if you’re not going to be responsible, don’t get a pet!

 

I have a friend who owes me money cause we made plans that had to go on a card and since I'm the one initiating the plans I put it on mine. She stated she'd pay me back half a few days ago and the other half this coming Friday. She hasn't paid anything. Her last text to me several days ago was confirming that she set up venmo and would send in the payment. I sent a request for the funds but she hasn't paid yet. I truly need to stop doing things with others that involves me putting any money down cause I just get stressed. The money for the trip will be taken out in July and I wanted to know I'd have it all by then. Like I know u checked ur phone today sis!!

And I can't blame anyone but myself because I know it happens every time but I still do it anyway and then I act all high and mighty and annoyed when logically I know it's going to happen, but I stupidly hope it'll be different every time. I'm a sucker and let myself get taken advantage of and then I whine about it.

 

I wish I could just fucking sleep for once in my goddamn life.

 

One reason why I don’t like Walmart. If the listed sticker price on the shelf doesn’t match what is rang up at the register, they tell you “oh well” and won’t honor what’s on the shelf.

 

The same thing with 7-11, drives me wild because they constantly mislabel everything

 

This is the first time it’s happened to me (that I can remember). Really frustrating

 

Super first world problem but I am so fucking annoyed.

Ordered a pair of shoes from Champs Sports last Wednesday. They got to Atlanta (where I live) from Wisconsin by Friday night according to the tracking info. They then sat in a UPS facility all weekend because apparently I live near the only one around closed on Saturday. Annoying, but no big deal. I can wait until Monday.

This morning I found out the shoes were being shipped to my local post office from UPS to then be delivered to me. This afternoon I get the notification that they have arrived at my local post office, so when I get off work I drive there (it’s like 3 miles away) thinking surely I can just pick them up.

Walk in the door, explain my situation to the lady at the counter and am met with a blunt “that just means that your package is here but it’s in one of the hampers in the back which we DO NOT dig through. You’re just gonna have to wait until tomorrow” and she turns around and walks to the back without another word.

How the fuck can something get from Wisconsin to Georgia in like 2 days but then take 4 more days to actually get to me once it’s here??

 

Fuck holidays when you work retail

 

My bathroom has this vent/fan thing that is always on. I have looked everywhere and there's no way I can see to turn it off. It's obnoxious af. My bathroom is in my room so I have to have the door shut when I sleep or it's too loud. I have a hard time listening to music in the bathroom because the dumb vent overpowers it. I just irrationally hate it so much.

My version of hell is being eternally locked in the bathroom with that vent.

 

like... it's been on since you moved in? it was on when you first saw the apartment?

 

It's def been on since I moved in but I can't recall if it's been on when I first saw it. I looked around my bathroom for hidden switches and investigated the vent thingy for any like switches or knobs but nothing!!

 

That is wild.

You don’t have a random rogue switch somewhere else in your apartment? A weird switch in a closet somewhere? Under the sink? Or maybe across the hall like in Friends?

 

I will have to investigate further when I'm home again!!!!

 

I’m dealing with some heavy relationship stuff right now and I’m debating venting it out in here. Don’t want to drag the atmosphere of the tread down though you know?(haha?). I guess that’s my frustration at the moment. I may post details later.....

 

I need more money.

My brother sends me job posts every now and then and the descriptions are things I don't understand and tbh I find uninteresting and it makes me freak out cause how am I gonna get more money if I don't have any experience in these jobs and find them boring?

Take the money at an uninteresting job until you find something offering you the same or more at something you're actually interested in is always the advice I followed

 

I feel like they purposely make job listings confusing

 

I was supposed to have a meeting with a coworker which is time sensitive because certain things in my project cannot move forward without these questions being answered, and I am going to be out Friday and Monday - and we have to cancel because my boss just gave her a stack of notepad papers he wrote by hand that she now has to type up. I mean - this is not a one-off thing, this is what all the old men here in this office do, they write things on paper and then hand them off to women to type up. We're not fucking secretaries! My boss considers me someone who is going to be moving them in a more modern direction but they don't have vision or dental, I don't have vacation days for the first year, they work primarily through old spreadsheets or by paper, and I work in a windowless office. At least this first year I've had it to myself - now they moved somebody in here because she's "being bullied" by people downstairs, so their solution is to not deal with the bullies but instead put her next to me in an office I work out of, hold meetings in, and where they often hold training sessions.

I've finished my first year at the end of the month and I am ready to move on. I don't want to work with a bunch of old men with outdated ideas and a poor benefits package. Our employees who work in the field are in the union and get paid more than me and get great benefits - I'm not complaining, I think that's great - but it sucks that the same can't be said for their office workers.

Anyway, it's not like this is my dream inudstry, working in environmental waste services isn't it for me fam.
