Yeah I think they kinda "wasted" him really. Getting in someone who's into that slightly "darker" Trio style stuff and making him sing little poppy ditties about "crazy girls" seemed a little weird. Almost as weird as how much I've used "quote marks" in this "post".

Oh god, this is like philosophy 101 and I'm not gonna do this whole thing online for the 1000th time on a Saturday. Cause as some point I'll just be quoting Pirsig or Kant again, and this is the Blink-182 thread and I don't care enough anymore.

    So, we'll leave with this:
You liking pizza or not is a different conversation than "Trump is the best president of all time." Just as, from my last post, someone liking Trump is a different statement than he's the best president of all time.

Hiding behind the idea that "it's just an opinion" doesn't mean it's actually an opinion and not a false statement.

This is like, literally the most frustrating argument I've ever had with someone, I literally can't believe that someone 30 years older than me can't understand something I understood in 4th Grade.

Whether or not something is "good" cannot be a fact because there is no commonly accepted standard for "good"-ness. It's applied the same to pizza as it is to politics-- If I like a burnt pizza or a lying president, then I'm entitled to thinking those things are "good." because the only thing "good" means is "good to the speaker".

Please don't respond, not gonna put you through this anymore Jason, but like-- I'm really struggling to understand your perspective here, this is like, simple pre-teen ELA stuff.

  5. Come back after the college classes, my dude.

You’re a few posts away from saying if someone says it’s “good” to ban a race it’s ok cause of their personal belief and it’s not actually wrong. That ain’t it and I’ve seen the way this goes too many times to do it again.

I feel like you're baiting me into defending that morally atrocious opinion, which seems pretty childish imo.

Suffice to say, morally "right" & factually "right" are two separate arguments, and you know that Jason.

Saying "Banning a race is good for making racists feel safe" is a fact.

Saying "Banning a race is good for reducing crime" is an untrue statement of fact.

Saying "Banning a race is good" is a morally bereft, yet factually hard to argue position, because based on the linguistic structure of that sentence, we don't know what the speaker thinks is "good" about it, therefore we don't know how to properly refute with it. It's wrong in several aspects, but it's still an opinion because in that context it's only a statement of his values in the form of statement of fact.

We could say it's morally wrong, financially unproductive, and a reinforcement of racist ideologies, but those facts could only change that person's opinions if any of those things helped them form their opinions in the first place. But you can't argue someone out of a position they didn't argue themselves into.

  9. How did I see this coming? Is it magic or do the same conversations repeat online forever. :crylaugh:

Yeah, I noticed it the other night...I'm sure it's just to make sure he doesn't miss lyrics and it's understandable since he has to remember all the ALK3 lyrics & blink now too.

(I had the moral relativism 101 online debate four thousand times, when I was 16, and I officially am out on that one from now until the end of time. I can predict every single response. It is my super power.)

How different would things be if kids COULD vote to elect politicians though?

How different would things be if wealth, and therefore power, wasn't concentrated in so few hands?
