Did not know there was a HIL thread. New album is all i've listened to the past few days. A lot of fun, a lot of progression, and Adam's riffs are awesome as always.

 

that chorus has been stuck in my head non stop!

haha i'm glad someone else noticed that, it sounds different yet so similar in a weird way haha

 

I’ve not heard a full LP by these folks. Is the new one a good place to start?

 

Absolutely

It’s a great encapsulation of their entire career, and you can trace back the influences going back afterwards

 

I’m stressing over whether Bent or Resister Resist Her would be a better single

 

Hard for me to rank all of their albums, but I think I could easily say this is number 1. It's the best Schuylar's sounded since I Am Hollywood easily, and I think it's the best paced album by far. If I had to, i'd probably put it:

White Bat
I Am Hollywood
few
Heavy Fruit
Suck Out The Poison
It Hates You

Also still like and jam 91025 a lot too.

 

I would vote Bent.

 

Magnolia

 

The sequence of The Interloper > Skin So Soft > Boogiewoman is so perfect.

 

Before White Bat, I would have been totally fine with them starting every show with Magnolia. It’s such a perfect opener.

 

I’ve spoken with Adam and Matt in the past and they want to tour with Deftones so bad. I really think it would be a great match and could hopefully grow their fan base.

 

He Is Legend opening for Deftones would have me buying an airplane ticket if necessary. Still have yet to catch either live.

 

I’m not even a big deftones fan and would totally see that

Deftones/ETID/He is Legend would be insane

 

I would morph into an animal.

 

Add Thrice and I’d never have to go to another show again.

And I’m not that big of a fan of Thrice either. Gotta give the people what they want

I agree with all of it!

Deftones were an influence on You Become You after PTW toured with them. Can you imagine what music would come out of a tour with HIL, ETID, and Thrice?

 

Fan theory: the subject of the first verse of Rock Records has a broom beside his bed. Is he also sleeping with a witch like the narrator of Dungeon Witch?

 

Yep this album is so good.

 

Schuylar posted on the He Is Legend subreddit that the fake fade out in Boogiewoman is meant to be a moment of silence for everyone who is incarcerated for marijuana-related charges (it occurs at 4:20).
