Damn, there goes my theory that they had done so many new songs after working with Feldy that he may not have a song on the record, lol. Wishful thinking.

 

I don’t believe they confirmed a Pharrell produced song is on the album but I could be wrong. There will be another song with Pharrell coming out separately from the album as well, that was confirmed.

Voyeur would be okay with non-gross lyrics.

 

Well the good thing is the band is at least open to working with other producers and seem to have a good relationship with Tim and his crew.

 

For some reason I always enjoyed the dinner plate line in voyeur. Probably because blink were my sex education teachers growing up...

 

Yup - and I still laugh at "Her dad is big and I've never seen his face." sue me.

 

The song is super fun and catchy despite the creep lyrics

 

Voyeur is a medieval morality play. The creepy stalker gets his ass kicked regularly. You gotta look deeper you guys!

Forget reviews. Let's break down Dude Ranch a concept album telling one long story about learning from mistakes and right and wrong.

1. The narrator straight up tells you that he's "pathetic" as the first line of the album having embarrassed himself with this woman.
2. He's a pathetic "lonely guy" voyeur. Gets his ass kicking comeuppence as I said earlier.
3. Dammit. He regrets it. He needs to "grow up".
4. Boring. He's finding this newfound attempt at maturity boring.
5. Dick Lips. Another immature tale about getting drunk and kicked out school and embarrassing himself.
6. Waggy. More regrets. Partial acceptance that him and this girl aren't meant to be together.
7. Enthused. "She doesn't care at all". Again trying to accept it's over.
8. Unitlted. Giving up and accepting it's over.
9. Apple Shampoo. Remembering the good times that "meant everything" to him. Starting to get over it.
10. Emo. She's with someone else now who's treating her terribly. Wishing her better and starting to mature.
11. A dream like fantasy about the perfect girl and how he can hopefully find her now he's grown up.
12. Chilling out watching a Star War
13. Degenerate. One last night of drunken antics. Big mistakes all round.
14. Lemmings. Time to leave behind the childish ways and being a lemming following the bad influence crowd.
15. I'm Sorry. The grand finale apology for the despicable behaviour outlined in some previous tracks.

Their least mature album or their MOST mature album? I think the evidence is staring you in the face.

 

this creepy voyeur Tom talk just reminded of that alternate Everything's Magic video which still remains as AvA's best (and tbh probably their only good) video!

 

Amazing.

 

I did this in like 2007 with the untitled record. I wish I still had it. It was like a damn book.

Best album concept story/conspiracy I’ve read was Killers - Hot Fuss

I don’t remember every detail but it’s the story of a guy finding out he’s gay and eventually comes to terms with his sexuality. It was actually extremely interesting.

 

I like to think without Voyeur we never get Masked Intruder - which would be sad. Heart Shaped Guitar is pretty much the same story.

Does anyone else feel a little reminded of the Dogs Eating Dogs EP in Happy Days? The bridge part especially. I think it’s awesome.
