Feels like we have been on and off for many years haha, we might run away to Japan together at some point but it's early, best to not rush these things. Right now we are in the honeymoon phase of being friends again.

Talk to the prof if you haven't and let them know your circumstance, they are often very accommodating if you show a genuine interest in doing well.

Professors are usually very cool with you if you're cool with them and don't give off the entitled vibe. Go to their office hours with some proposed solutions and just be real.
