Ya the egging on needs to stop but the ones saying their mental health is at stake should probably back off too. I’ve had to block the same few users on multiple social media accounts because I have no intentions of making amends with certain ones based on comments they’ve made BUT the subtweeting on here should really just end.

 

It should be a safe space for everyone who is not an outright terrible person. There are people who legitimately feel uncomfortable posting here or on the forum because of what has been said about them. This is a very diverse and fun community, but with that comes differences in opinion. I know that a lot of you feel strongly about certain things and that is totally fine! There are constructive and efficient ways of debating and dealing with differences in opinion. But I will be blunt and frank, certain people have been handling it in harmful and offensive ways. That's not what I signed up for this website for. I just want to be able to talk about music with cool folks without worrying that I will get eaten alive by saying the wrong thing.

People make mistakes. People also learn from their mistakes. For example, clinging to something that was said years ago that could be contrived as unintentionally racist and harassing them about that isn't fair to someone who has only been trying to make this place fun and enjoyable and has done a lot of good.

I'm sorry for coming in here and being immature a few weeks back. I admit that was a poor way of handling it. I don't want to be confrontational and come off as a jerk, but I also don't think it's fair that certain people are bullied over differences in opinion. It makes it about as uncomfortable for me to post here as it does for you guys that certain people lurk over being harrassed and subposted all the time here.

I like this forum, I like this community. I don't want to leave because of feeling like I'm not welcome here. Can we all please try to do better? I will if you guys will too. Let's make this a safe place for everyone who just wants to discuss music and not cause problems and unnecessary drama. Please.

Honestly I feel uncomfortable there are so many people on here that are happy to defend abusers, listen to and celebrate their music, and attack anyone who doesn’t share their twisted worldview. I was dogpiled in the goddamn Julien Baker thread a few months ago for daring to suggest i was disappointed that she thanked CAMERON BOUCHER in an Instagram post. By some people that probably felt real stupid after she edited the post to remove his name. But how many of those people got warnings or temporary bans? Or at least a post about why that kind of behavior enables abusers and allows them to avoid consequences for their actions? None.

So I’m sorry but I’m really kind of fed up with a certain group of people’s discomfort being acted upon and another’s ignored.
