He really upped his game the past month or so

 

I enjoyed Fyter Fest quite a bit. All of the matches were solid to great. Really enjoyed the tag team 3 way,womens 3 way and last 2 matches. Darby Allin is a pleasure to watch and crazy as fuck. I will say Shawn Spears Vs Cody for All Out isn't something I'm excited for and ,but hopefully it'll be better than expected. Chair shot was dumb idea and I hope they don't go there again. I'd love to see Janela vs Allin sometime in the near future. That match would nuts!

 

Overall i loved the show. The wrestling was great and more and more storylines are building up.

I am not sure where this librarian gimmick is headed, but we'll see.

I think they should have turned cody heel and spears face, but i guess they will have to wait with a heel turn of one of the elite's guys till the tv starts or till all out.

 

wow the views of fyter fest here was negative? Thought the show delivered...and after the pre-show stuff, i was ready to bury it also (cause i thought the pre-show sucked big time)

BUT

Thought opening match was fine, although im surprised they're not giving SCU the wins here. Think those guys got the charisma and should get a push in the beginning (i know their age is an issue which is why you give them this run now, but again, i know the age is an issue)

Womens match was GREAT!!! Thought the wrong person won, but there was some creative shit in this match, that even a guy who hates spot fests thought was impressive. I legit thought either of the other 2 should've won. But super!

loved the 4 man match. Legit think all 4 of them have some sort of future (unsure about Havoc). Love Jungle boy, page, and MJF. Great promo by MJF.

Cody match. Dear lord. I'll give cody credit. That's 2 for 2 in terms of having the match with the best storytelling. If the guys are into it, and they wanna do head chairshots, go for it. Not gonna knock em for it. Pushing Tye Dillinger...caution AEW. I get it in the beginning, so it's fine, but be careful AEW.

Six man tag. only thing i didn't like. Too silly for my liking.

Ambrose match. Hardcore match is hardcore match. Think a match like this would be better after weeks of TV time, story telling, etc. I don't really know why these guys are killing eachother and because of me not knowing, it was just a bunch of hardcore spots.


Thought overall the 'ppv' was solid. Hope they keep it up.

 

I didn't think it was bad at all, just had some issues that were easy to pick on unlike DON. Besides the chair shot and Spears being pushed I thought it was a very good event. The announcing definitely needs work, but it should get better with time once JR knows the product better. Excalibur is highly enjoyable and I don't think they need a third man in the booth.

 

For the price it was brilliant in my view. I'm also good with Spears getting a push of some sort. He's a good wrestler. I would assume the push is just to legitimise him as an elder statesman of the locker room than as a top guy.

 

Mick Foley was the king of guys who would take chair shots with his hands down. For instance. I used to say to Mick all the time, “Let me get this straight: Reality-based, you turn around and you see a guy swing a bat at your head, you just put your hands down? Is that what you would do? Because that to me is bogus. You’re just appeasing people who want to see you get hit in the head with a chair. You’re not telling them a story, you’re showing them it’s crap.”

Ummmmmmmmm so does Heyman have anything to do with tonight? Or not yet? Seeing conflicting reports

 

The conflicting reports seem to be more about Eric's role going forward. It sounds like he was the one who hadn't been signed officially yet. Heyman was going to be at tv no matter what. Eric wasn't planned for tv at all. The press release getting out early has them scrambling.

 

Yeah but Ive heard Heyman wont start for another 2 weeks and ive also heard hes starting ASAP

I thought fyter Fest was really solid. Some stellar matches and some I just don’t get into (hardcore matches). Solid B+, imo. Not as good as double or nothing.

 

Probably a stupid question but in relation to hardcore matches, is the barbed wire gimmicked at all?

 

really enjoyed Fyter Fest. the women's triple threat started off real rough but was awesome by the end.

holy hell though, Jim Ross had so many shitty moments

 

I dont see how it could be, it looked like for the Ambrose/Janela match they were each VERY careful of where they threw the other when it came to the barb wire tables and shit.

 

I was watching while playing FF so I couldnt hear much, was it the thing where he doesn't know anyones name??

 

Outside of using like....fake barbed wire, I don't know how you'd really gimmick it.

They should just hire the video game commentator full time. He was super into it all night.

I think this thing NEEDS JR. I'd have a tough time without him. He plays a very good "outsider" roll, in terms of, he doesn't really know who these people are and is kinda just trying his best and explaining at what he sees. Excalibur has been "ok" and I'm sure he'll get better.

I wish AEW would avoid the 3 man booth trope though :(
