I think they're tied with sports in regards to the imbalance of where money is going

 

I don't necessarily feel bad for him in this instance, just in general. I'm not trying to take this thread in a direction to feel sry for him here because he's is wrong. He defends Chris brown. He said the n word as a youth. He has trash views. I think he's a victim in some ways and a perpetrator in many others. The deal with him rushing to defend scooter rings as a little sad to me just because he rushes to defend someone who has exploited him and helped run him into the ground. My will always go out a bit to child stars in that sense who never had a chance. I don't actually agree with anything he's saying in this situation tho and it's creepy that scooter liked it literally like less than a minute later like they're in the same room

Love that Justin Bieber mansplains to Taylor that she’s just trying to get sympathy because an asshole has her masters. But Chris Brown throws a fit and tells Chvrches that they should get hit by bus and Bieber says he’s a misunderstood legend.

 

The most mainsplainy one I've seen yet is that guy on the big machine board who commented and tried to tell her how her deal and negotiations work. They're being deliberately obtuse. She clearly states she knew her masters would be sold and came to terms with that. That isn't her main problem. It's obv who they were sold to and a breach of trust that feels like a violation. Likes she's not dumb she knows what her contract says lol. And then they're splitting hairs by saying she WAS offered her masters lol no, having her "earn" her catalog back while being stuck in another 10 year contract which would've granted scooter even more control over her ultimately, is not the same as letting her buy back her masters.


I feel bad for demi tho. She should've stayed out but always inserts herself. Now ppl are telling her they wish she would've died from her overdose. Imagine defending ur fave from bullying by saying u wish someone was dead. Stan culture was a mistake

 

My mentions had lots of “industry” people defending the capitalism angle tonight — like I don’t know how it works my issue is it shouldn’t.

 

All this stuff coming out of the woodwork is very interesting. It’s clear to me that Scooter has been mismanaging Ariana and putting her at risk, but tbh it seems like he’s been systematically fucking over his female clients for years.

 

Btw the “offer to buy her masters” Scooter and Scott are talking about is apparently the “offer” to earn her albums back one at a time...over a period of ten years...each time she delivered a new album. Not an offer to buy them outright, which she obviously would have done.

I’m also seeing some talk that even the ten year “earn them back” deal was filed under quickclaim basis, which means that she wasn’t even guaranteed to get the masters after the execution period because the sale is not guaranteed. They are MAD that they tried to put her back under their thumb and she said to fuck off and exposed them.

Meanwhile, Scooter is gleefully adding posts about “buying Taylor Swift” to his Insta story and sending his wife and clients to do his dirty work for him so he can pretend to be above it all. This is, as always, about power and about how men cannot stand a successful and intelligent woman.

 

Capitalism is the first thing I thought of after reading Demi's post. He doesn't support you because you're LGBTQ+, he supports you because you stand to make him a very, very rich(er) man. He probably doesn't give a fuck who you love or who you are as long as you're making cash.

 

I seem to remember an interview where Ari nonchalantly said Scooter pressured her into including "ghostin" on the album after she begged to leave it off.

 

It must really suck when non-creative people force you to make certain decisions and changes to YOUR album because they say so... and $$$
