This is why you have to use those passive aggressive corporate phrases such as "it was my understanding that..." or "based on our earlier discussion..."

I love calling out people with subtle shade like that at my job.

 

they asked me what the status of that account was and I was like "we need to do their bank verification call and it was supposed to happen at 12:30 yesterday, but the person who was supposed to do it didn't get to it until after their bank was closed, so". I didn't mention who it was but of course they asked and I had to say

Well you did the best you could not directly calling her out at first, but you can't lie about something like that either if they ask for a name so I think you did it the right way.
