Amazing stuff. Time the Destroyer got me excited, Chris's interview on the Washed Up Emo podcast this week got me extra excited - and sure enough as I listen through the first time it is paying off. I enjoyed Illumination Ritual a lot, but this is more immediately impactful than any of their recent releases.

 

this is my favorite appleseed cast album i think

 

Really digging this so far. Reminds me a lot of Low Level Owl in the way that the songs just kind of drift around, but flow together so easily.

 

opener made feel a certain way - wow!!

when the AsC hit me they hit me like no other band

I literally forgot I was listening to music during The Journey, but not in a bad way at all. Rather I was just so completely engrossed in the sound that it became part of my thinking- if that makes sense. It wasn't until the last thirty seconds or so that I remembered I was listening to this record haha. Really beautiful.

 

This is their best work since Sagarmatha. I expected to like this but it’s sorta blowing me away.

 

so far I’d say up there - maybe - better than Sagarmatha

no way better LLO, 2C, Peregrine

better than IR, MS

but

on my first listen lol & obviously completely irrelevant because the point is that it’s awesome

 

That's a perfect description of the whole album. You just get lost in it.

I think "Asking the Fire for Medicine" is my favorite track. So gorgeous. I really disliked their last album, but this might be their best since Peregrine.

 

Illumination ritual might be my favorite tbh. Idk. It’s hard to pick bc they’re all perfect

 

This is so so so good.

 

The drums on Petition get me fired up

 

Collision is a perfect song

 

Add me to the list of people loving this. It's like a mix of their prior work, while also being fresh. The generous addition of synths is really doing it for me.
