I feel like dark money makes it harder to figure this out anymore, but I would imagine after tomorrow night all the candidates will be watching their campaign donation numbers and we'll prob have to wait a few weeks for that to take effect.

But with the next debates only 1 month away, I could imagine all of them hanging on through at least that debate, hoping to get a second chance at catching some fire.

I don't remember the 2015 GOP debate timelines very well but I feel like a lot of the candidates held on through a few debates before they started dropping like flies.

He hasn't mentioned laying on top of a grenade yet, so I think we've still got a chance that they are two separate people. A small chance.

Real talk: how is Chuck Todd on tv and no one in the make up room is like “maybe we don’t comb your hair forward like a middle schooler in 1998?”

One of the msnbc post debate contributers asked why castro went after beto.....

I dont know maybe because unless castro gets a big spike soon he will probally transition to a senate run? That might be it

So far people on facebook, people on CNN, and people in my house right now all seem to be in agreement that Warren and Castro, and to a lesser extent De Blasio and Booker, had the best night.

Two dudes who I wouldn't expect to be Warren fans told me out of this field on the stage tonight, Warren would have their vote. Of course that doesn't mean much without Bernie and Biden there but man, she is really really good at captivating people.

Here’s how I rank and felt about each candidate’s performance

    1. Warren - didn’t talk much in the second hour but overall did great, almost every answer was on par and the right solution
    2. Castro - Great job on big issues like police reform and immigration. Loved him going after Beto
    3. Inslee - most of his answers were on par, and obviously good to make climate change a top issue
    4. de Blasio - acted as one of the most progressive candidates, whether that’s authentic or not is the question
    5. Beto - surprisingly did well in most of his answers
    6. Booker - he had some good answers, and some bad answers
    7. Klobuchar - yawn
    8. Gabbard - she spoke like 4 times, good moment when she sparred with Ryan, other than that, yikes
    9. Ryan - no one cares
    10. Delaney - his answer on carbon tax was good, but everything else sucked so much he’s still last

  14. I haven’t seen any praise for Beto. I thought he sucked.

Maybe I'm underestimating Beto's night because I feel like the first hour he got beat down by his fellow Texan and others. But he did do a little better in the 2nd half.

    what?

I feel even David isn't gonna give Beto "surprisingly did well in most of his answers". Like what answer did he give did you think was good?

He came across to me as woefully unprepared and unqualified and the only thing that has going for him is he can inspiring speech but then lacks the actual policy to back anything up.

Yeah I think the first hour was especially bad for him. I almost felt bad for him with how Castro just took him to task and how everyone else just had better depth to their answers than he did.

He did get a little better in the 2nd half but he definitely seemed a little....out matched? Not quite ready for the national stage?

If de blasio didnt have a history of being flakey i would include him too but otherwise i agree

Yeah his first half was bad. He wasn't great or anything but I think his answers overall in the second half were better than others. Also props to him for being the first to say climate change was the biggest threat. Curious if anyone would have said it if he didn't say it
