The Boys (Amazon) TV Show

Surprised there wasn't a thread yet for this.

The Boys takes place in "a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame" and "revolves around a group of vigilantes known informally as “the boys,” who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty."

 

Reviews have been positive. About to start this.

 

Looking forward to watching this after the generally good buzz. It's been renewed for S2 already, which also bodes well.

 

Can't wait to watch this. Karl Urban and Antony Starr don't get enough love.

 

Watched 5 episodes last night. Enjoying this a lot.

 

Just finished. I liked it. Not as much as the hype beasts do but the premise is cool. Wonder where the go next (apparently the second comic is more of the same)

 

I have all the graphic novels and planned to read them before starting the show, but there’s so many of them. I might just start the show soon lol

Only watched one episode so far and I'm severely disappointed at this juncture. Maybe it's just not living up to the hype. Maybe it's because episode 1 was not the slightest bit of fun to watch? Maybe, it was the sexual assault / rape by the mock aquaman character and the peeping tom naked character combination that disgusted and turned me off? Or, maybe it's that none of the characters were particularly likable in any way??

Hopefully it gets better.

 

I don’t think you’ll like it if this is where you stand at the end of the first episode. Might want to save your time.

What’s with all the flies everywhere? It can’t be accidentally as in some scenes they are really prominent and up in the sound mix

I'm loving this. The guy who plays Homelander is FANTASTIC.

 

I’ve been loving this. 5 episodes in. The acting from some of the cast is top notch.

 

Just saw the baby-gun scene in episode 5, awesome.

 

Blew my mind when my friend pointed out he’s the former lead in Banshee.

 

This is pretty solid, the first episode definitely captured my interest

 

“You’re gonna teach me how to outrun cancer?”

Omg. The FB live video with the changing emojis popping up was such a great touch.

 

Finished this last night. Need season 2!

 

I'm loving this. Just finished ep. 8 last night and I'm really liking where this is heading and I feel like this is a bit of a fresh take on the superhero genre despite the obvious and intentional DC character mirroring. Lots of great humor throughout and the cast was overall fantastic. Homelander gave me the creeps and the main "boys" group worked really well together. Karl Urban was great per usual too. Hopefully S2 we get to see more variety in supes though. I'm assuming they'll expand all that. Though I haven't touched the comics so I have no clue.

 

Just finished this today and loved it. Honestly can’t wait for season 2. Loved the humor and the mystery/reveals. The action was pretty great too!

 

Anthony Starr was just so perfect as Homelander.

 

He’s the best.
